This year, Chicago was next to Calgary in the standings. They were realistically in the playoff hunt a lot longer, but then somehow got passed by Calgary in the last game of the season.

The point is, Calgary is about the same as a 3-time cup winning team that is apparently just starting their rebuild.

Wouldn't be the first time though...after the McDavid thing and how things have been going with Buffalo I wouldn't be surprised.

We've seen actual footage of the lottery draw when the Oilers won McDavid, with representatives from various teams in the room. Nobody looked happy about it. Nobody looked like they expected it, either.

What on earth is the incentive for any team to condone a fixed lottery, or for the auditors to commit fraud by conniving at it? There isn't any.

League got pretty fortunate when Crosby saved the Penguins

Penguins already had Evgeni Malkin and MAF. Just saying.

Crosby is truly incredible but they still would have been able to build a winning foundation with those two.

They were bankrupt, no fans, about to move to KC until Crosby arrived

I don't think they would have survived long enough to build anything without the Crosby hype and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
