I get that, but I think the hatred is way over the top. I get angry at the team a lot, but I would never say the things some of the posters say.

If Neal wasn't having a bounce back year in Edmonton, i think Lucic would be a healthy scratched by now.

Well thank God we got Neal out of the dressing room. Hopefully the players are much happier now.

If anybody else is a little salty about the loss and Svechnikov’s goal, this made me feel better....

P.s. why is Pierre McGuire such a tool as a colour guy... I’m pretty sure the medical staff were on it before you bud....

Where is help going to come from? Now that the team has given up on Jankowski and it's clear Lucic and Bennett (and Reider) are trash, who steps up? Dube? Gawdin? Who else? We're five decent forwards away from being competitive. Not good.

Unless you have some on an ELC teams can’t pay 6 forwards “top 6” money. What’s the average salary for a “top 6” player?

Giving up leads in the third hurts. Sitting on leads is why that happens. You have to extend leads. This is a tough patch where the offence isn’t coming but these guys will get hot and get to their level.

Team play can be better. I think they need to play attacking aggressive hockey all the time and they will get the swagger. They know what their game is supposed to look like. To me, this is still a skilled offensive team. It’s just not in rhythm or flowing like it can right now.

To my eyes they look good when they move the puck quick, exit clean, use the middle and make plays. Pucks would get carried in and creativity and hockey iq would take over. All of that flows from hard work. When they make plays they start feeling it.

Defensively they killed plays quick, at the blue line and didn’t back off- they stood up. Pressure caused turnovers all over the ice and boom - quick transition. Instant offence.

They scored a lot (in the third) doing it that way and won lots of different ways. They need to stick with it and it will come and be fun to watch.

It is shocking how a team that looked so deep last year and is largely unchanged this year can now look so thin. Outside Lindholm the top players have largely disappeared all year.

I know it is still very early but this good one year then bad the next is really frustrating.

To improve forward depth there are only three choices:

1)Trade a defencemen for forward help in a deal that is cap neutral
2) Trade picks for a forward. Since no cap room, other team must be willing to take on Frolik and/or Jankowski for rest of year
3) Improvement from within

The last one is the realistic alternative. Here’s hoping.

I think the issue with this team so far this year is they are somehow simultaneously too comfortable and too nervous at the same time.

They are too comfortable in that they are all NHLers at this point, and don’t have the drive to succeed that they had last year. Think they thought that making the playoffs would be easy and let the talk of “Nothing matters until the playoffs” get into their head.

I think that they need to move on from some Of the veterans (Frolik for one)), and I would like to see Dube and Gawdin in the lineup to bring some energy to this group.

And somehow they are also too nervous. Carrying the backpack from the playoffs and overthinking every aspect of the game. Second they get any adversity they are fragile and haven’t been able to overcome it.

Think coaching is part of this - Peters needs to try to harness the energy from the first half of last year where the team was just playing fast, playing creative, and having fun. So much emphasis on playing “playoff” hockey, and on the failure from last year that the guys are playing to their weakness by trying to sit back and play defensive instead of trying to dictate play and playing to their strengths.

Last years team may have been the worst “second place” team in league history. Not once did I ever feel confident that this was an elite team. I always had this feeling that the luck would run out and they would show their true colours. Well the bottom of the barrel has fallen out and the real Flames are back. God this franchise is useless.

Wow, 2 losses in a row trying to hold a 1-0 lead. This reminds me of Brent Sutter hockey. Those teams were also middling and less than the sum of their parts.

I am starting to move away from give them time to they need a major shakeup but will wait til the 20 game mark before panicking.

I think they are being asked to play a different type of game, seems like the team is struggling with this transition. At some point the coaches may have to abandon this approach if the team struggles for too long.

Cue the Treliving apologists. The most overrated GM in the league that this organization sadly signed to an extension. Can't wait for 5+ more years of bubble playoff/1st round exit teams.

Correct. He’s only been viewed favourably because this team had an impressively bad run of GMs in its history, which stems from a piss poor president and even poorer ownership. Treliving has a few good wins under his belt, the Hamilton acquisition being his crowning moment (some might argue Tkachuk pick but my dog could’ve made that pick) but the bad began to outweigh the good a while ago

This team plays great with confidence. They seem to have a hard time getting it back once lost.

Sean Monahan has 1 PP goal in his last 42 games.

They were flying high till that night. Steamrolling opponents, potent offensively, rolling four good lines with forward depth for days, then Lindy did that ####ing skol clap.
