I’ve been on the record about suggesting this team should make some changes to the core
But I think that’s work you do in the summer
Doing it mid season risks making a trade to save this year instead of the right long term move
Ride it out
IF the team is out of it move the vets
Reshape the team in the off season

Can the Toby Reider experiment die already? Guy is not an NHL calibre forward anymore.

The team is cancerous from top to bottom filled with losers who will never win us a cup.
Tre should be fired
Peters is out of his depth
Monahan should be gone
We have the softest team plus D in the league
We need a rebuild

2 games in a row where they did the same thing. Try and ride your hot goalie and sit on a 1-0 lead. Not smart enough to learn from your mistakes or just don't give a crap?
Team is back to only playing half a game. Effort level is missing on all fronts except goaltending. I think we had maybe 1-2 complete games this year. Otherwise we have had at least 4 periods where we were completely overrun with absolutely zero pushback where we get 1-4 shots and 15-20 shots against. Once in a while it's going to happen but this is like 4 times in the first 14 games. Good teams just don't do that.

I thought the team showed up, but something is just off in the systems execution right now - when they play with structure there's no pace, just chip and chase and cycle. When they try to play with pace the structure takes a hit. Not sure what the answer is, but I feel like the coaches need to watch tape and make adjustments, even if it means giving guys more freedom to take risks.
Svechnikov, Aho, and Slavvin is a sick trio for the 'Canes.

Shutting the game down in the third was one of the many good things with this team last year. Now they seem hell bent on pissing away leads and wasting tremendous effort by Rittich on a nightly basis. It's time to stop losing in this terrible fashion and take off again.

I think it's time for a break. The officiating is bad enough to ruin games. The Flames constantly ####ting the bed makes it worse.

Starting to get those bad GG vibes from the team and coaching, other teams seem to adjust / adapt as the game goes on whereas the Flames don't.

Is there still a debate that this team has been crap since the All Star break?

I don’t know how you get a goal when you high stick the goalie before the puck has crossed the line...regarding Svechnikov’s lacrosse goal. Maybe the sound we heard in the broadcast was purely puck on helmet, but he still seemed to be cradling the puck.

Huh. I thought Svechnikov died when Ovi whipped him.
Turns out he can still hockey.

The lineup is a problem. I don't have confidence that the way the team is structured right now is going to change that issue for the rest of the season.

It is a poorly constructed team.

Not that’s it’s the entire problem, but 2/3 of our top line are useless this year. The same two guys who let’s say have a colourful reputation downtown yet for some reason it’s off limits on here to question their off ice commitment here. I know you don’t want baseless accusations on here but where there is smoke there is fire.

I would normally agree, but he wasn't even the worst forward out there tonight... which is saying A LOT

That was hard to watch. Absolutely no emotion and our top guys are MIA. Mix that in with the usual crap that is NHL officiating and it makes for a terrible night.
It’s time for this group to step up and show us that they care about winning. Hopefully there is a closed door meeting courtesy of the leadership group. That type of effort is unacceptable.

I think that lacrosse goal probably should have counted by the word of the law, but it sure doesn’t feel like it should be allowed to me. I’m all for high skill plays, but when you score that goal by mashing the puck and your stick against the goalie’s mask, it seems like it takes the skill part out of the equation.
I’d say it reminds me a lot of when the league had to deal with those spinorama goals in the shootout where guys were bowling the goalie into the net. Theoretically a highlight-reel goal, but doesn’t really feel right when you see it done that way.
Another scenario I thought of is what if a guy takes a wild slapshot from the just outside the crease for some reason and just blasts the goalie in the face with his stick, after which the puck trickles in. Rules say it counts I think, but it definitely shouldn’t.
I guess there’s really no precedent for it, though, so who know what the right call is.
