I like Tkachuk on the first line. lets keep that a thing, and it also makes our centre depth so much better

How come the Jets seemed to get 2 timeouts during the OT powerplay? I was there a better explanation on TV?

Good, I don't have to listen to the same 8 guys saying the same thing over and over again or Pat falling asleep and asking to repeat the question.
When you know the first few callers by name you know there's a problem!
OT needs a new format, do it like Toronto and Montreal with 2 hosts to keep a flow and make it a little interesting

The commentators mentioned it, they were as confused as you.
Paraphrase: “Timeout clock is just starting but they’ve pretty much had one already here”.

You can go back even further to before the scores started going against us. Peters himself said in the midst of win streaks, that our performances weren’t good enough. There definitely was a lag between our drop off in play and a subtle yet slowly increasing drop off in results.
This is no short term funk.

This.
I don’t understand why Hughson kept calling it a questionable goal for the rest of the game - after the intermission panel had read this directly out of the rule book, and agreed that It was a good goal. Once the refs realized that Tkachuk was not at full height when he touched the puck, there was no way they could confidently say that was a high stick.

For a 'neutral' game, it was really apparent just how bias CBC play-by-play commentary is against Flames. Aside from Ball, it feels Randorf and Hughson/Simpson are so anti Calgary.
Anyway, for the game itself, since it was outdoors, snowing, and windy, not going got to put too much stock in the result since it's adverse conditions. Getting the point is ideal since they got at least something. And for the most part, Flames played well enough to win. I felt the lineups were effective, and I hope that Peters is committed to sticking with them for a few games to let them gel under real games. This has the potential of actually having two scoring lines, and a solid third line. Backlund is exactly where he should be as a #3 C, and Lucic is a good complimentary linemate for that role.
Hopefully the team can produce a good amount of goals in the next few games to make Peter's confidence in sticking with it.

I will maintain this until they finally do it, but the solution is getting all refs off the ice and into a video control room watching multiple angles at once with control of a similar buzzer to the goal horn. Remove them from the heat of the game and hopefully they will stop trying to control the flow and act as impartial as possible. We have the technology we just need to break from tradition.

I really liked the lines but I think it highlights the need for one more top sixer. Let's go all in for hall imo. See if frolik+ 1st+dube scratches the surface enough for the devils.

I want to see the same forward lines again. Ideally, I want to see Mangiapane with Lindholm and Tkachuk and Gaudreau with Monahan and Bennett, but I'd settle for any lines with Lindholm at centre again. I also want to see the 4th line with Jankowski - Ryan - Reider. Janko takes faceoffs on the LHS and Ryan takes faceoffs on the RHS.

I still like how the pbp story went from "wow that replay is so close, too close to call"
To "the Jets get justice for a bad goal!" 20 minutes later.
HNIC's true colors came out by the game's end.
.....dicks.

I want to see Lowry pay for the hit in the numbers on Kylington, no need with 2 seconds left in the period. Don’t care if the SN panelists say that isn’t his game- blatant hit like that needs lucic to cave his face in. See ya next time Lowry.

There’s been a few posts about this.
There’s no chance Bennett or Lucic could do anything about it in this game. Bennett has a chance in the spontaneous moment to make Lowry account for the hot. He was restrained. Once the moment passed two things prevented any further retribution.
1) 1-0 game where the refs had already demonstrated anti Flames bias. We were already on the receiving end of 2-3 brutal calls.
2) Flames players and coaches know this is a showcase game with NHL brass and sponsors present. Kylington was playing and I think that mitigates vigilante actions.
I agree, Lowry should be ready for a rough ride when they play next.
And wow, I just looked and next game isn’t until March 31! Flames will need a long memory!

I’m sorry but that 7 game series vs Colorado showed us exactly what this team is. Change needs to come from within and they need a fire that just hasn’t been there yet. Overall they work hard but they at the same time weirdly just don’t seem to “care” the way they should.
It looks like this is a job, not a passion.

Too extreme.
The team got spooked against Colorado and completely abandoned their game plan and system. It was evident.
I think Peters likely pointed this out, but the team for whatever reason had yips and couldn't trust themselves or their teammates to play the system.
We're still seeing some of that now with some of the gaps, etc.
It just may be that this is a fragile group when it comes to on ice leadership and if that's the case moves for say Kadri and Zucker make some sense; players with a lot of jam that don't like losing very much.
Lindholm is a warrior for sure, I never question Giordano. There are others of course, but there are too many guys that cheat offensively creating gaps and teams are getting wise to it.
Last year the team came out of the gates bleeding chances and it looked like Peters was a good CF% coach, but when the other team got possession they gave up haymakers. I was happy I was wrong, they rectified that completely.
This year the team is back to stupid mental errors, and cheating. They're showing a lack of intensity and focus with things like face offs.
I'm guessing they dial in again, but the biggest thing this season is for Peters and his staff to learn what to do if they fall off again.

Lucic is making plays to my eyes. He’s making good plays in transition and showing vision. I’d like to see these lines for more games but out of curiosity what is CGY record with Rieder? What are CF% etc.

I’m just curious for those that believe the officials have an anti Flames bias. And that the national broadcasting crew are also anti Flames.
What is the reason for these people to have this bias? And in favor of teams like Winnipeg and Edmonton no less.

I think I’m more pissed off that Lowry still has all his teeth than anything.
I guarantee Hamonic/Bennett/Lucic were all told, “don’t fight him, you’ll get an instiigator and we’ll lose”
Well you lost anyways, so good job. Since game 1 of the playoffs, all the team has done is try not to lose. This team doesn’t have the focus to play 60 minutes of that every night and the consequences are unfolding. Play with passion, play on instinct and I think the results will improve.

Lots of hate on for the refs when it came down to completely falling asleep for the 3rd and the last play in OT.... sitting back on a 1-0 lead.
Did like the Forward lines though.
