It's about time for Jankowski to get a real shot. Who cares where he plays, I don't expect to see him back down to the AHL again.
Sorry 4 liners, one of you just lost a job, don't be the last man standing when the music stops.

So our prospect that has 1 NHL game in his life at 23 is not a bust but the 21 and 22 year old that both have close to 200 games each in the NHL are busts?
How about none of them are busts at this point in their careers?

Don't see anyway that this line doesn't have instant success.
|
Tempting fate there but I hope you're right. I'm cautiously optimistic. Worth giving it a shot even if the success isn't instantaneous.

Love it. He shouldn't have been in the AHL to begin with.

"For me, let's pump the brakes a bit here,'' Treliving cautioned. "Everybody's excited - and it's not that we're not excited - but this is a young man with one real NHL game under his belt.
"The expectation that he's going to show up and walk on water is ludicrous. They have a good day, a good week or a couple good games and everybody's saying: 'It's time!'
|
It's absolutely not ludicrous, Brad. It's what every player in the NHL does, every night.

Bennett is in the lineup tomorrow so that he can punch Johansen in the face some more. He played much better after doing so last season.

(are we still allowed to rip on Brouwer?)

Haha, kind of weird to be pedantic when they technically don't run, either. I went with walk because it worked with what Brad said. Jokes get less funny when we get into this territory, though.

Yeah, but my pedantry set up Sutter_in_law for the punchline above, so I figure it's all good.

If Bartkowski gets back in the lineup tomorrow, half the roster will be either Mike, Matt, or Mark.

We'll have to change the Hamilton brothers' names to Mike and Mark, to avoid confusion.

Once Bennett is playing his game again, then you swap the two.
It'll be fun to see what happens, I just want to see Bennett producing again, and I think that happens for him on the wing.
|
Yeah there's no doubt that Frolik and Backlund prop up players with their strong positional game and that Bennett would benefit from playing with them. I also have no doubt that Tkachuk's point totals would likely increase with Mony and JG.
I think Bennett and Tkachuk's actual hockey skill-set (shooting, skating, physicality, hands) are very similar and are probably likely interchangable minus the intangibles of attitude. And since those things are generally chemistry based I say leave Tkachuk where he is. Give Bennett a chance to just use his skills and strength on the wing with strong players and not have to worry about responsibilities that come with center or that of being on the shut down group with Backlund and Frolik.
