Nobody would blame Johnny for skating away. Id rather have him avoid it all together and have Tkachuk work with 3M on The job they do so well.
Fair point, though I don't think you really need to hold people out of a scrum. Even when emotions are high and there's 8 or 9 guys piled together in the corner or behind the net after a whistle, it's really nothing more than some pushing and shoving. It's not like there's 5 opponents in there all trying to punch Tkachuk in the face, plus, we've seen Johnny get involved, he's not risking his health or safety by grabbing a guy on the side of the scrum and skating him out of it.

Quote:
Ferland and Tkachuk are different entities. Tkachuk is to make people mad. Ferland is supposed to be a physcial force with skill. He's supposed be taking guys to task for hacking at Johnny, while also contributing offensively, not necessarily starting ####. Hasn't been helping much in his supposed role since the 2015 playoffs IMO.
Agreed 100%, which is why I'd be all for seeing Tkachuk up there, he brings the size and speed Ferland does, but has been playing with the edge and skill you want up there. At this point, Ferland needs to go back to being a crash and bang bottom 6 guy.

Quote:
Maybe you're right. I think Bennett is a better fit personally as someone that has high skill and angry physicality, but isn't exactly "getting under the skin". I don't doubt they would do well with Tkachuk. Just think he's a better fit where he is.
Ultimately I think you're right, and Bennett is the best fit for the top line with Johnny and Money and Tkachuk is the best fit with Backs and Frolik, but I think Backs and Frolik provide a little more stability and a lot more defensive coverage for Bennett while he gets back on track. Once Bennett is playing his game again, then you swap the two.

It'll be fun to see what happens, I just want to see Bennett producing again, and I think that happens for him on the wing.

I don't think the best way to get his confidence back is this.

I don't know, I like Lazar on the third line, he is very fast and potentially the Flames best skater. On Bennett, I am not sure about giving a free ride on the first line, he has to earn it and the 1st line is the only one that is working right now. I would keep the top two lines as is and just tinker with the third and fourth line right now. I think Jankowski will do well with Bennett and Lazar and you can move Versteeg up if needed.

Additionally when Jagr comes back he plugs in to the third line and you have a very big and skilled third line.

Here's a brilliant idea lets take our 1 prospect that isn't a bust and play him with the 2 prospects that are busts

Three young guys with something to prove who have skill and can skate.

I'm giddy

I like it! However I could see Ferland and Versteeg being switched with each other

The idea is to get the most out of your players. Bennett's confidence is shot but it's not like the effort hasn't been there. And we have seen in the past that the offensive talent is there too. He has struggled at C but has also shown good chemistry with Johnny.

The bottom line is this: If Bennett evolves into a top 6 player, the Flames are a better team. We need more offense and unfortunately, Ferland didn't step up in that role either.

Or how about "hey, let's take our 3rd line centre, who's been dying on a line trying to make it work all himself - and put another potentially good player with him so that they both have a chance at succeeding on a line, rather than being given nothing to work with and no hope for success"

....yeah.

stick bennett with backlund and frolik, let him the aggressive winger while the other two play clean up duty.

THe problem with Bennett as the Centre has always been his level of aggression combined with the responsibilities of the position.

As much as bringing up Janko is 'unchained', Bennett to the wing in my opinion is unshackling that poor guy and letting him play like how he naturally wants to.

Get the bridle out of his mouth and let him run.

I believe it would have an opposite effect. Will make him grip his stick even harder going against the other teams best players.

Exactly. Bennett will be most successful playing his aggressive style similar to Tkachuk on the wing. This allows him to take some chances down low and have Jankowski who has played center way longer and is a good two way player to take some defensive responsibilities away.

Don't see anyway that this line doesn't have instant success.
