Fire the goaltending coach. Bring in someone who know how to coach goaltenders.

It would mostly be empty posturing.

Trades don't happen much anymore, and the players know it. Even the trade deadline is just a shadow of what it used to be. These days GM is lucky to find a partner for any midseason trade, let alone more than one.

Vancouver has moved past us and knocked us out of a playoff spot. This is unacceptable. Fire everyone.

Hmmm.
Hamilton's minutes going down lately, several games now with less than 20 minutes.
Hartley often played him as the 5th D, even after Russell was traded.

In all seriousness, has anyone ever heard a Flames coach or manager talk about this? Does Calgary have a sports media that ever ask these types of questions?

At least now people on here can stop saying how we're still in a playoff spot to deflect from the severity of our lows.

Yeah I didn't share the "we're in a playoff spot" enthusiasm. Team is on pace for maybe 84 points last I looked and perilously close to bottom 3 in points percentage. Team could possibly finish in its worst position in franchise history.

And former Flames (who couldn't make this team according to most people) scored all three goals. An extra kick in the nuts.

Is Greg Gilbert available to coach? At least he gave Flames fans a couple months of exciting hockey.

In the grand scheme of things is this that bad? If it ends up like this the Flames get the better pick and the Canucks stay stuck in mediocrity. Flames ain't winning no cup this year and neither is Van so give me the better pick if this team is dead set on being terrible.

Clear evidence of Hamilton's low RGI.

For what it's worth, Brent Krahn was on the fan yesterday saying that the goaltending coach really doesn't do a whole lot. All they try to do is run some drills that the goalies want, sit with them during the footage, and try their best to mentally support a goalie. They also act as a buffer from the coaches to the goaltender as all goalies react differently to criticism, while coaches generally take the tough route.

He mentioned that since the goalies have their own routines and a significant portion of their game is mental, it's really on them to improve.

All in all, not sure if getting rid of the goaltending coach would help the situation all that much.

I think lowering the ticket prices would be a good will sign to the fans.

Maybe the amount of involvement and role of goalie coaches has changed over the years. Brent Krahn played 1 NHL game 9 years ago, hard to tell if what he said has much truth to it or not.

Yep always a possibility whether it is relevant now or not.

Just pointing out that finding a scapegoat by us fans is quite easy, but there is more to the story behind the scenes than what is shown on TV.

The answer is, of course, the annual fleecing of hapless Canucks GM Jim Benning of a second round pick or undersized prospect in exchange for a washed-up bust on the Flames' roster who's going nowhere. Those trades always work out well.

Maybe we can get a second round pick for Gaudreau or Monahan, if we agree to take on salary?

He also said Elliott is playing small, something I noticed too.

His poor play is all in his head. Which means it can be fixed. Use the equipment change as a 'reset' maybe.

Yeah totally agree, just looks like he tenses up in key situations, opening up more holes.

Yeah hopefully the equipment change or the all-star break will be a good reset.

Sounds like Krahn had crap goaltending coaches and maybe explains his fabulous NHL career.
