That was before Marner and Nylander made the team. They have their RW pretty sewn up I think. RW: Marner, Nylander, Komarov, Brown. C: Matthews, Kadri, Bozak, Holland, LW: Michalek, JVR, Hyman, Matt Martin.

Not a lot of room for Pulkkinen there.

If anyone below CGY in the waiver order needs some winger depth it'd be Vancouver. Kind of Sven insurance. Their winger depth is young, they could use another. Other than that, EDM, seems set on their roster, CBJ looks pretty set as well with a good young and promising set of FW's, and some good depth.

I think someone better may be available on waivers before rosters are finalized. Bollig may be claimed which may increase our chances of grabbing someone off waivers.

I don't think the Flames have cap room to claim anyone. We kept hearing the Flames had under 7 million in cap space before Gaudreau was signed, but it appears non-roster injured players also count against the cap (ie. Pribyl), so with the 25 players under contract (2 injured), the Flames are more than a million over the cap. So at least 2 of Vey, Bollig or Kulak need to be sent down initially and all 3 need to go down if they want to claim someone on waivers that makes under about 1.2 million.

This is all assuming the Flames place Smid on LTIR on the 12th and not the 11th.

Treliving says "we will see" when asked if he will be active on the waiver wire today. Says he doesn't know if it will be a priority.

The way he spoke around this conversation was, I think telling they are interested in someone.

He also made it sound like they were working on something else outside of waivers.

Sounded to me like he would rather make a trade than look at someone on the waiver wire.

I think the Flames claim everyone today, including Bollig.

I suspect it will be a trade where we send one of our waiver guys for one of their waiver guys.

I also suspect Smid's contract may be involved. When questioned about LTIR, Treliving noted that there may be other options that they are looking at rather than LTIR.

Really hoping Smid isn't included in some sort of waiver swap. Nothing good can come of having to dump his salary. That will only result in lost assets

It's almost as if people haven't been paying attention to Brad Treliving's track record.

I'm almost certain that he'll never lose a deal ever. At worst, he'll make a lateral, but strategic move.

If it's a good move for the team he'll do it. If not, he'll stand pat.
