Yah, don't look now, but Flames are only 6 points behind for the last wildcard spot as well with 1 game in hand. Still a ways off and way easier to get into the playoffs via the 2 bottom spots in the Pacific Division, but always nice to have another option in case.

At his age that is great!

That latter part would be a 35 point pace over 82 games. Not exactly great, but a marked improvement over the first 9 games.
Hopefully he continues his excellent play.

It not just that they won those 6, it's who they won them against. That is really impressive.

It's more interesting when rivals push each other. If both teams keep it up, we could be looking at a first round playoff series. Who doesn't want to kick the crap out of Edmonton in the post season?

Honestly though, is there anyone on this forum who didn't think it was over as soon as the 2 on 1 with Johnny developed?
3 on 3 with Gaudreau feels like we're cheating ... and I like it.

I wonder if Ramo also got a vote of confidence in the last day or so from the GM.
Perhaps, "hey Karri we are not going to put a claim on Khudobin (sp?) you are our guy, now go out there and play"
Over thinking this?

At some point, the strategy against Gaudreau in OT has to be to not give up the puck and cycle in the defensive zone until he leaves the ice. It might take 5 minutes, but it might be better to take your chances in the shootout.

Nice to see the Flames at .500 and back in the playoff picture. Seemed like it was a long shot a few weeks ago, but they've been playing much better of late and beating some pretty good teams in the process. All of this despite having the absolute worst special teams in the NHL. Amazing. If they can somehow get that aspect of their game fixed, this could be a very formidable team going forward.
On the goaltending front, I thought Ramo looked good tonight. Hopefully he can keep it up, because I don't want to see Hiller in net again anytime soon.

Kinda late, but got to credit Ramo ... we got the goaltending tonight, and we got the W. Definately think he got a "vote of confidence" and he performed.... still think we'll get a better option and swing Ramo/(Bernier? Ortio?) for the season.

Ramo's last 5 games. Those stats won't flat out steal you games, but it does give you a solid chance to win every night. Keep it up Karri.

No it doesn't. At all. Not even remotely. I'd prefer Edmonton to lose but honestly I don't give a crap if they win. Who cares? My level of excitement and pride with what the Flames have done has nothing to do with how the Oilers do. If anything it makes it even funnier because Oiler fans get cheesed that we're matching them. Kind of a "you're not special, Edmonton".
The Flames have won 6 in a row. That is awesome and it doesn't matter if anyone else has won 6 in a row as well. It's still awesome.

Good win... Ramo was excellent, and Johnny was... well... Johnny. So lucky to have this kid on this team.
I was however hoping maybe they'd just plant 2 guys at center during the 5 on 3 and play it 3 on 3.

Strategy for the next 5 on 3:
Put out Johnny, two defencemen, and two random forwards who are able to take draws. After the faceoff, the random forwards stand beside the bench and prepare to applaud.

Average NHL goaltending and we're suddenly winning lots of games. That gives you a lot of faith, doesn't it?
Defense isn't as bad either though. I'm guessing it's a bit of a feedback loop.
