I hope Kovalchuk plays out the rest of his career in Europe and spares North American fans from seeing a loser float around for millions of dollars again.

Just watched the game on youtube in Russian. Never would have guessed the Eakin-Ennis-Coutourier line would be the best.
Aparently were all pronouncing Ovechkin wrong. The commentators were saying 'Ahv-yechkin' or 'Ahv-yeechkin'.

I.tend to believe them as it would be kinda senseless to shake hands and stay for medals and then suddenly walk from the anthem to show some sudden disrespect.
Disrespect is second nature to the Russian national team. There's nothing sudden about it.

As far as the excuse goes, the Russians are also usually better liars than that.

So what kind of punishment do they get? Relegation?

A trivial fine at most.

They should fine the Russian Federation $1.3 million to recoup the bonus that Canada won.

Poor Ovie. Loses in the POs. Rushes to the WC to lose in embarrassing fashion to Canada. Then his teammates leave him standing on the ice.

This is all about Kovalchuk IMO. He is not only selfish, but believes Russian hockey is superior. It seems pretty obvious that losing to Canada burns at his soul (well, if he had a soul).

Even worse.

They all have to play in Edmonton next year.

I found it really hard to care about this tournament, its just become a secondary thing in terms of hockey excitement.

Even when the Flames weren't in the playoffs it was hard to watch.

There were a lot of good games in this tournament. France-Latvia might have been the craziest game of the year! (sorry devo)

Sorry for the bump....

Was just curious as to why Jarome was not invited? Or was he and he turned them down? Or was he injured?

A few Avs were on the team and he was their leading scorer.

Thanks

Most likely because he is old and Canada wants to see who they have coming up.
