Was at the game. Crowd really got psyched after the four minute penalty kill. Flames didn't bring their skating legs to start the game. Engelland nearly had the Hattie - the roof would have come off the Dome had he got it. We sucked at the Shoot-out tonite. Take the point and drive on.

I know this has been said many times on here but this team is so exciting to watch, like every night. They work so hard and have the hearts of lions , it will be truly sad if they don't make the post season for whatever reason and we got to watch a team like the Canucks bore us to death with the "Sister Cycle" that will be shut down like a fat chick at a all you can eat buffet.

This team has become a 1 line club for scoring and that worries me greatly. You can see other teams focusing on the Monahan line knowing that is where our scoring has been coming from lately. We need to get back to the balanced scoring we once had.
I hope and pray that Wideman, Russell and Brodie can keep up the minutes they are playing. I'm concered that fatigue, resulting in mistakes, might show up in the last games of the season.
Ramo has clearly nailed down the #1 tending position with his play of late. We need that in the final games as it willl get tougher and tougher to score goals in the last few games. He gave us a chance tonight and that what I was hoping for.

I was at the game tonight and in my opinion the Flames weren't necessarily "lucky" to get a point... They started rough absolutely, but took over at times and quite frankly dominated the Stars for certain periods of time... It sucks not getting the two points, but they came back from 2-0 and 3-2 deficits against a red-hot Lehtonen and Stars team fighting for their playoff lives.
It's another bump in the road, but I don't think any of us thought this would be easy... We are still in a playoff position with 8 games left. The Flames need another big road trip and given their last two extended trips, I'd say that it is a possibility.

On a lighter note: I can't get over how awesome Bouma is.
I still don't really know what type of player he is.
The fact that he's scored 14 goals, which is the most he has scored in a season in the WHL, AHL, and NHL (going back to 2005-2006)... suggests this is an aberration.
However he has impressive offensive instincts and a great shot too. Whatever he settles into as an NHL player, I think he's critically important to our team.

Jones tries to skate through four Star defenders, turns over puck, Dallas scores. Bodie makes poor pass to Bouma who losses edge and falls down, Russell cannot keep up with his man, and Dallas puts puck in net 16 seconds before period ends. Granlund high stick four minute penalty, Colborne two calls against, one resulting in Dallas powerplay goal, one last two minutes of game. Raymond draws the penalty that put them on 5 on 3 powerplay. He didn't score, but in second period he had a really good possession shift while the rest of Flames seemed to be skating in quicksand, which was immediately followed by Johnny scoring and the team suddenly finding their legs. He was not great in overtime, but he did some really good things in this game. It is so easy to point out faults when you don't like a player and totally ignore anything positive they do. Not comparing his contribution this season to Bodie, Bouma or Russell, but he was not the problem tonight.

They still control their own fate except in the extremely unlikely situation that those teams both run the table the rest of the way.
If they keep winning, they'll be in.

nm....I can't insert an image for some reason.
But it was a pic of Bodie from the Wire. It was hilarious.
Okay, no it wasn't.

Just a few observations I had watching tonight;
- The D looks extremely fatigued, they were giving up the blue line way to easily and falling back right on top of Ramo, Russell was guilty of this many times
- Diaz is not an NHL dman, absolutely can't stand him
- They lost every draw, or thats how it seemed like, in their own end tonight

I thought Brodie had a pretty decent game. He's really stepped up with the captain on the sidelines.
Raymond needs to step up his game if this team is going to make the playoffs. Really, most everyone who isn't on the top line needs to step up. Glad Raymond got an assist on a Engellhands goal. Hopefully it's a sign that he's going to start scoring again.
Everyone is rooting for Raymond, but to really contribute on this team it's going to take more than a couple of decent possession shifts and a couple of shifts where he skates around the perimeter really fast.
Also, what happened to Jones? I didn't see him out there in the 3rd period. Seemed like Backlund was on the pine as well.

Raymond seems afraid to do anything with the puck. It's like he's thinking too much and not reacting. He's got the speed and loves to cycle with the puck but never puts himself in a position where he can shoot the puck. He did it on a number of occassions by holding on to the puck for too long where I was yelling shoot or pass the damned thing!

100% agree on the D looking fatigued and on Diaz not being an NHL calible Dman.
I know the end goal is making the playoffs, but what kind of shape are these guys going to be in after 82 games?
Having a third D pairing that could actually take the body and move the puck effectively would be huge for us. As it stands now I don't feel comfortable with these guys on the ice at any time.
Not all negative though, Engelland looking like a offensive machine out there. Maybe give him some PP time and limit Diaz even more.
