That is a big reason I hate calling them "comeback" wins.

Haven't read the whole thread but the people who wanted to trade Hudler for draft picks should be ashamed of themselves, we should be extending him, he is a huge part of the character of this team. The Feaster haters should also be giving some props.

Sounds like marrying material.

Brongelland!

Too soon?

Seriously though, when every single D man who plays with Brodie plays great, he's gotta get some credit

Yeah, people get so swept up come trade deadline.

Some people wanted to trade Hudler and Wideman because their value would never be as high... which is exactly why they're such important players for this team. Why tear that apart?

The oddest one I heard was after the New Jersey win and someone called into Overtime to say we needed to trade Hudler in order to get a scoring winger back...

Listened to the call on the fan and it sounded like a great game!

Highlights for me were:

Stajan's goal
The boys sticking up for Brodie ame then laying out Datsyuk after Brodie got hit from behind
Monahans play overall... The kid is so damn clutch!
All the character and depth on the new top 4 D and "the bottom 6" - total team game
Gaudreau even tallied a point!
Shore sounded very solid

Gotta say I was worried about Russell and Wideman, any more reports on their health?

Agree, if we traded Hudler an Wideman for picks the odds of us drafting comparable players have to be at best 20-1. They both have several prime years left and are huge contributors to our scoring, defence, character and leadership. Both are a bargain at their current pricetags. Last year was a bad year for Wideman with injuries but he is a beauty.

Another good game!! Solid win for the Flames over Detroit. Just when you thought the Red Wings will be all over the Flames, they proved people wrong again. Pretty interesting that Hartley started Hiller tonight. I would have thought he'll ride the hot goalie but I guess that is why he is the coach. Good on Hiller for answering the challenge. He was pretty good tonight but I am guessing Hartley will go back to Ramo on Sunday vs Ottawa. Gaudreau had fun playing close to home in this road trip but Sunday will Monahan's turn. He was the star for Ottawa(OHL) before. Good on Stajan for scoring that momentum swinging goal. I guess Bollig(after playing for Chicago) and Stajan(after playing for the Leafs) knows how lively the boards are. Talk about a nothing play that turn into gold. What can you say about Wideman and Russell? These guys are warriors. Russells got hurt and went down after blocking the shot. He even lost his stick but still managed to block another shot. Wideman was the same thing blocking on one foot then another on the other foot. I just love that this team is play like a whole team and there was no individual star. Engelland is playing much better with more minutes while Schlemko is starting to fit in. Looks like Smid might have a hard time going back in the lineup when he gets healthy. Again awesome win and hope they stay on winning streak and Canucks, Kings and Sharks keeps losing.

Also huge props to stajan tonight. Perhaps overpaid and under utilized, his interview was great. Spoke highly of bollig and just such a team guy. Hate to say it but kind of the opposite of glencross and Sven. I'd lump in engelland here too - paid well but comes to the rink every day, happy to contribute however possible.

With the trades other teams have made it seems we made the easier decisions which was to trade the players that weren't smiling. Simple as that

I honestly gave up on them... 2 - 0 early in the first. Switched the game to a recorded episode of Family Guy, then off to Brewsters for dinner. Walk into Brewsters and it is 2 - 1 for Detroit and I feel a bit of shame for doubting, soo enough it is 2-2, feel more shame. Next 3 goals the whole restaurant is freakin out at each goal... Awesome win.

Schlemko: 13:35
Diaz: 10:54

Being able to take four minutes away from those top three is huge.
So Edmonton had the ability to claim Schlemko on waivers before Calgary did right? Was MacTavish just asleep at his desk? Young-ish defenceman that can be had for nothing who can play solid minutes should have been exactly what he was looking for. Instead he passes, Calgary claims him, and he fits right into the top 6 of a playoff contending team

Some things happen for a reason. When I think of Glencross situation I think of Stajan; Stajan used to play on the top line but has no problem playing on the forth line. It's that kind of attitude and commitment that molds a team.

This team also has a ton of guys willing to to pay the price and stand in front of pucks. most are probably black and blue and get hit in the same spot 2 or 3 times a night. Every guy believes in each other which is a great problem to have!

That game last night.

Anyways, I like Joe Colborne.

Been watching him closely lately, and I think he's got pretty good hockey intelligence.

Why would the Oilers want to improve their team?

Some thoughts:

- I think the Flames are finally getting their act together in the first and second periods. It has improved tremendously. Even when they get down, they can usually go into intermission tied or only down by one now it seems. Sign of progress there!
- Brodie is awesome, making Engelland better. Full credit though to Deryk for stepping up to the plate. Maybe he just needed minutes with a better partner.
- Love Shore, Schlemko.
- Oilers fans were really angry about this game tonight.
- It is unreal how integral some of the members of this team are - the less obvious ones. Hudler, Backlund, etc. We are very lucky as fans that Hudler gets to teach our rookies a thing or two or three. Great mentor.

Agreed. Word was that Vancouver was waiting to claim him. Willy Desjardin coached him in Medicine Hat and really knew his character and potential. But Treliving had the same inside info.

Why would he try to improve the Oilers at this point? I hate tanking as much as anyone but we're into the last 20ish games of a completely lost season for the Oilers. Why do anything to worsen your chances at McEichel?
