Really, you are going to talk about a president that just found out that an American landmark and thousands of people has been attacked by terrorists? Give me a break!

I suppose that too but this is scary stuff to me. That's also why I think the big bombs will be coming out cause they can't afford to fight these wars anymore.

As you might expect this (and virtually all other social media) has been deleted. Of course these morons clearly don't realize they can't control the world media like they can in Russia...

You mean like the increased sanctions that Obama and Putin had a phone conversation about this morning? You mean sanctions like that?
http://www.bostonglobe.com/news/worl...TTK/story.html
Idiots.
Ukranian president being reported on CNN as classifying it as a "terrorist action" not a "catastrophe" or "incident."

Has to be imperative to gather all the facts before jumping to conclusions... Blaming Russia at this stage would be unwise, my fear is if the crash site is compromised due to interference from rebels/whomever, those facts may be hard to gather.
Imposing sanctions against Russia is a game they can play as well, again all the facts are needed here. Even if it was a "accident" it surely must be met with some sort of response, 300 civilians dead is absolutely sickening.
Feel terrible for all those affected, my hope is that this doesn't snowball and pull other nations into the conflict.
CaptainCrunch, if it comes out that this was indeed no accident and NATO refuses to do more than stack troops along borders, what do you think the odds are that the US acts unilaterally on this situation, with more than just sanctions? I can't imagine the death of 25 odd Americans will be taken lightly, especially if the airliner was specifically targeted. I know it's early to say one way or another, but does anyone really want to poke the bear so to speak? However if this was deliberate, there's no way other nation states sit still on this is there?

So what you do is get the facts of what happened and take appropriate actions against the parties involved.
You don't declare war and hit the nuke button before you know what happened.
Put down the keyboard and walk away for a bit, your hate for Obama is clouding your judgement.

Please tell me how you think Gorbachev should have responded after the United States shot down a commercial airliner in 1988? Should that act have gone unpunished, or should the Soviet Union have called for sanctions and/or military strikes against American forces?

Sounding crazy? I am very relaxed "man", but am one who lived through the cold war and am seeing the same things happening. Putin making the same moves as the Soviet leaders did in the day. I don't know how old you are but history can teach you many things, be it if you lived it or studied it, we are going down that same path.
Just because you don't think a strong response is necessary does not mean the rest of us or the world leaders should be making statements that this is never acceptable.

What did the US do when it had 60 or so killed when the Russians (USSR) shot down that Korean flight........not much, but GPS did become availible to the masses, IIRC.

No, I'm not but what's that got to do with anything? I don't want their soldiers dying either and that's why we're in a situation with few options.

As has been said. You gather all the facts, find out exactly what happened, take your time, and decide the best course of action.
Shooting from the hip isn't intelligent in any remote way.
