LOL Corsi numbers are not "fact". They are numbers and formed into an opinion.

Oh now Corsi is wrong. Gotcha.

Citing Corsi numbers is better than saying "He Sucks" and "He's Garbage".

Corsi may not be wrong, but it's irrelevant. Most important games of the season and his game took a nosedive. If you want to look to Corsi to make you feel better about it, that's cool. I'd look at all those losses.

I look at the overall situation he's been put in.

Phaneuf's GAon/60 is 2.65. His GAoff/60 is 2.59.

Corsi numbers are useful for some things and it's been looked at to death. But it is a tool to look at stats, not a tool that tells you Phaneuf is anything less than garbage. Watching Leaf games and his entire tenure in Calgary is all the stats I need to let me know he is brain dead and has terrible hockey IQ.

And yet, he's usually top 10-15 in Norris voting yearly.

Whatever makes you feel better about his game imploding in crunch time.

Get him proper help and he'll be fine in "Crunch Time".

LOL. How many votes does it take you to get to top 10-15? 5 votes, maybe 10? With the Kool-Aid drinking Leaf reporters out there is it really any surprise?

That is simply not true.

people have been making excuses for Dion his whole career. He is an average d-man with an above average shot and big hits (that usually put him out of position)

more flash than substance

Except for 3 of the past 4 seasons, when he didn't.

And what a ridiculous statement. Usually those guys after the top 10 have a couple 4th of 5th place votes.

He hasn't had a real Norris-candidate season in 6 years.

Keep riding that hopeful train. As nik said, having a good season until you and your team's collapse pushed you out of what looked like a locked playoff spot won't impress anyone.

Except you, apparently.

Phaneuf and Kessel. Two of the very worst choices you could make to build your team around.

And Toronto continues choking. Surprise!

I'd cling to whatever I could to as opposed to accepting that my captain, signed for 7 million a year until 2021, turned into a disaster at the most important stretch of the season.

I totally get it.
