Not sure if it has already been mentioned, but does the conditional pick (4th) for Colborne change to a 3rd if he hits 25pts or was it more?

10 goals or 35 points AND the Flames must make the playoffs.

That "AND" is very important. It will be a 4th rounder.

Awesome third period, so great to see the drive to win from the entire team.

Backlund (though not managing to get on the scoresheet) had an absolutely outstanding game. He was all over the ice and a huge emotional force for the the team. Was on the ice for 23 (his highest total on the season) shots attempts for, and only 8 against, for over 74%. That's the 9th game in the last 10 he's been above break-even in possession, playing on a bottom 5 NHL team. Fantastic stuff, and the points are bound to start coming again.

The kid line (Byron, Reinhart, Granlund) looked sharp in the offensive zone, but a little 'rookieish' in their own end I thought. Hemmed in a few times and were making some questionable decision on clearing attempts. That's to be expected, and I'm sure is something Hartley will work on with them. The fact that Bob trusted them in the final minutes even with a defensive faceoff speaks volumes. I don't see a situation in which they go back down before the Flames' season ends.

Ortio looked a little shaky (much like his first game), a few teams seemed unsure. But, he came up with a huge save when it mattered most, and got the win! Can't wait to see him shut down the 'Nucks!

After also watching it 30 times all I can see is a strap from Gio's equipment flapping and Anders Nilsson banging his head on the ice repeatedly after the goal...

Gio has been banking it off the wall line that for years. It used to make me so mad because nobody was ever prepared for it. It seemed so stupid at the time because it would just turn the puck over

Watching it live, I thought he banked it off the wall on purpose (he does that a lot).

After watching the replays several times, I still think that. Hard to tell though

Looks like a set play to me. Shoot it wide because the shooting lane is blocked.

The replay looks like he was trying to shoot and missed the net, in my opinion. Or he may have shot and known that if he missed the bounce out wouldn't be a bad alternative.

He does miss the net on purpose at times, as many players now seem to do, but that one looked like a shot to me. It seems like that play is especially effective in European rinks where the boards often have insane bounces.

Last game I said unreal what Hartley has done with the players he has.

Burke brought in some of these guys. Gotta love that too. The whole foundation is being built. Top down. All the way to the AHL guys.

Hartley has turned out to be the perfect coach for this team of misfits and social outcasts

I'm sorry but anyone who is still ragging on Butler and calling him a 7/8 or AHL d-man is flat out wrong.

Stop counting his one or two mistakes a game and watch him play solid.....every D-man has a couple a game. At 27 he seems to be coming into his own right when you would expect a 3 or 4th rounder....IMO.

He is turning into a good 4-6 option....what exactly do you expect from that slot and pay grade?

Boring Sean Monahan ‏@boringmonahan 13h
I scored a goal and everyone was happy. Joe Colborne scored 2 goals and he was also happy.

If we somehow met those conditions, I would be very happy to give up a 3rd for Coleborn.

Was at the game last night with a bunch of friends, and wow, nothing short of a miracle took place!

After a great start with Granny's goal, the Flames seemed to stop skating, stop passing, and looked pretty lacklustre. My one buddy wanted to leave and I said F that, I paid good $ for these seats and were gonna milk it for all it's worth. Thank god we did. The place absolutely erupted when we tied it and went nuts when we took the lead. Ortio made a game saving stop in the last couple minutes to seal the win. Wow. I love being at the 'dome when comebacks like that happen. Section 227 was rockin' last night! Good times.
