Tina Fey or Amy Poehler could work if they want to go away from just another white guy. I actually expected Tina to get Late Night before they went with Seth.

Conan was on short term deals at TBS but I think he recently signed a longer term one.
I think Conan's time has passed. If he was fresh off The Tonight Show and all that buzz was still out there.. ya.. but I think they'll go with someone new. Conan doesn't have that spark he once had.
Would be great to see him back in NYC going head to head with the Tonight Show there though.

I could see WB letting him out of that contract. I think Conan's online following is pretty huge, but seems like the TV ratings aren't too up-to-snuff.
Knowing Conan's character though, I doubt he would ever ask to be let out of his contract, so it would be up to WB to bring it up. Would be super classy of WB to let Conan try for it though.

I had a co-worker suggest Jay Leno as a replacement for Letterman today when the topic came up today. Can still taste the bile in my mouth from my reaction.

Most of what I read suggests that Colbert is the front-runner.
Interesting. Even tough his show is obviously him playing a character, I think even in his non-character material that I've seen he comes off a little too self centered for the role of the biggest late night show.
Self-centered might be the wrong term. But he's a very funny comedian, who's very high energy and at his best when the focus is on him. Not sure if his style would translate to the talk show's biggest stage, interviewing the biggest guests in show business.
Of course it's hard to tell as his last ten years of work to look at is him playing a character and purposely being over the top and overbearing on the guests. So who knows, maybe he'd take the job and be amazing.

He did an hour long, out of character interview with Neil deGrasse Tyson and nailed it. I think he would make a great host but I sure would miss his work on The Colbert Report.

The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
It was just announced that Stephen Colbert would replace David Letterman as the host of The Late Show. Here's Colbert in an interview with Fresh Air with Terry Gross from 2012: http://n.pr/1eoNgNX
