Dave Naylor was on TSN this afternoon and said that Doug Berry now has final say over the Montreal offense. Miller will be reduced to a different role. Why not just get it over with and fire Mike Miller as well?

Read over at Reddit that there was a rift between Hawkins and Miller. Apparently it was Popp, not Hawkins, who hired Miller, and Hawkins and Miller had conflicting philosophies. Popp had to fire one of them and chose to stick with Miller. Not sure about that last part because everything I have read points to Wetenhall firing Hawkins.

Read on a CFL forum as well that a poster said they talked to someone from the Montreal team who said he thinks Miller was out to lunch on the CFL for what will work and won't and AC wasn't getting along with Miller because of it. Another poster rebuffed that comment and said he heard differently that Miller was open to input especially from AC and AC would have none of it.

Buck Pierce figures he will not be in Winnipeg come September as that's when CFL veterans contracts become guaranteed. Also said he wasn't told about his new role on the team until today.

Which Qb do the Stamps protect?

Tate, injury prone.
Glenn, oldish.
Bo, unproven.

I say give Bo another game or two this year, let him earn the protection

Let Tate come back from his injury and see if he can keep his job, and either way you protect Bo.

If Ottawa takes Tate then fine, if not then next year you let Tate and Bo battle it out in camp.

Not sure I will give a 100% blame to Hawkins on Als bad start. Jim Popp was pushing it when he allowed a rookie HC, rookie OC run the show. It shows because their offense suck this season even though they still have a veteran QB. Yes, Toronto won the Grey Cup last season with a rookie HC Milanovich but his OC been to the league already. Tressman had instant success in Montreal but he too was supported by OC who's been coaching in the CFL. I guess Popp thinks Tressman's magic will rub in on Hawkins.

Anyways, i guess we will not find out if Hawkins could have been a good CFL coach or not now that he's done in the CFL. Not sure any CFL team will hire him as a head coach anytime soon or if ever.

Looks like the Als will be without Whitaker for a few games...

Reilly may want to use the hook slide. What a tough guy, he's getting hammered on this series

Not to derail the thread with the game going on right now, I'm surprised not to see what Naylor said on the pregame show tonight on Hawkins posted yet.

Popp wanted a guy with no CFL experience because that would bring in more creativity

They wanted Hawkins to not change anything, have some success and then add his stuff and didn't like it when he was making changes right away.

That is some insane thinking by Popp, somehow he is the interim HC.

Reilly is going to turn into Pierce with that piece of crap OL he has with all those hits he is taking at some point this season. They have to address this problem.

Ellingson keeps on impressing. They will have a pretty good group of receivers when Fantuz returns and could have a very potent offense. If they get their running game in gear they could be tough to stop.

That was a lame PI on Webb. Hamilton secondary sucks big time. Brutal coverage.

Reilly might just be the real deal at QB.

Shaw misses the 50 yarder for the win

Edmonton's O-Line is a disaster. They have to do something to fix it

LOL. So sorry Kavis.

Has Grant Shaw ever made a big kick? He can't kick the ball straight against the Stamps repeatedly over the years, and don't see too many Esks games without the Stamps playing, but sure enough blows another.

bad coaching on this game between Hamilton and Eskimos. TiCats was so lucky to win this game because Eskimos would have run out of time when Fred Stamps caught the ball. All TiCat players has to do is let Stamps run around. Luckily Shaw missed the field goal. Hamilton 30-29. That was deja vu for Burris because he seen that Shaw missed field goal over and over again.

TSN said it is the first time the Eskimos have started 0-3 at Commonwealth ever.

Horrible clock management by Austin. Run it on second down and you run the clock down to about four or five seconds. Third down, have Burris launch it about 70 yards in the air (positive he did it in Regina one time). By the time it gets down, clock will be at zero. Could be one of the most most stupidest calls I've ever seen watching football.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will be without non-import defensive tackle Ryan Lucas for a month, head coach Tim Burke told reporters on Friday.

Lucas was on the receiving end of a questionable hit from Calgary Stampeders left guard Jon Gott during the second half of last Friday’s 37-24 loss at Investors Group Field and suffered a partially torn quadriceps.

Didn't see the play but how does a knee injury result in a torn upper body muscle ?
