Do you not realize where we are in the standings and where we were under Brent? Hartley is somehow a better coach who gets worse results behind the same team.
where do you think Sutter's flames would have been if he lost Kipper for 40% of the games?

I'm skeptical of this. Are there any more owski's to be had?

The clip of Cammalleri last night (and seeing him today), and the media talking to Kiprusoff post game (looked as if he played a triple OT game) last night, speaks volumes.

The reputation that Iginla had around the league made guys come here...I distinctly recall when Amonte signed here, he said that was the reason. That, and Sutter's straight talking ways, were the way to treat players correctly, and that goodwill has gotten more players here than you'd think...stark comparison to the Oilers who have all but alienated the UFA market.

Conroy's return, Cammalleri, and Tanguay (who owes Iginla every penny of this current contract) for sure...

Bottom line, the Flames have to make sure they somehow maintain that reputation now that they don't have the ambassador with the class of Iginla to woo players here.

I'm not thrilled with the job Hartley has done either but then again he has the softest group of players with 1-2 centers the whole year. At least Sutter had sort of a well constructed team relative to the disaster Feaster has concocted.

Ken Hitchkock is reportedly very close to the Bouwmeester family. Another reason he may waive for St. Louis

For those bashing Giordano, his game has shown 100% improvement since being dis-partnered from Bouwmeester. I've been a Bou backer since he came but it seems whoever is partnered with him sees his game go down. Keep Gio and trade Bou seems like the right move.

An older team with a lot more injuries.

Can the mods set up a filter that changes all known dumb spellings of Jarome, to its correct spelling? Kinda like the big shiny thing filter they had.

Is his agent Meehan's also ? I don't know.
I'm so very jaded about this whole management group.

Bouwmeester has been traded to the Detroit Redwings for who, who.
Lets just see it should be a 1st round pick. Can Feaster negotiate a no brainer 1st round pick and Weisbrod will scour the Redwings orginization for an NCAA prospect that is almost a certainty.
You should do yourself a huge favor and log off for a while.

I could see it being something like a 1st + Jurco/Tatar.

I get where you are coming from but in fairness to Weisbrod, he didn't draft any college players last year. 3 of them opted to go the college route, but they could have gone to the CHL.

Flames actually drafted more CHL guys than non-CHL guys.

If anything, he's brought a little diversity to the scouting team. It use to be all WHL and at least now, there's OHL, QMJHL, high school, and college guys.

The good thing about the college guys, is that they are older and you have a better read on them. Having said that, they kind of shat the bed with Eddy and Lamb last year.

I would agree though, if you can do it quicker than that (?), having this version of Bouwmeester be here would be great... but I think the pieces you could get in return for Bouwmeester, would help the Flames franchise more over a longer period of time than the years where he could still be here himself.
I see your point. I guess I am just remaining hopeful that we do not follow into an Oiler's style blow up and tank for 5 years. I would much rather retool and bounce back in a similar manner as the Sens.

If we trade Bouwmeester, it will have be to another contender because otherwise he has no reason to waive his NTC. That means we would be looking at another late first round draft pick. IMO, Late first round draft picks are not tools for rebuilding a team. We either need to get a young player or prospect that is projected to be a #1C as the centerpiece of a Bouwmeester trade and then get draft picks in addition.

If we want to collect draft picks outside of the top10 overall, I would rather trade players like Babchuk, Sarich, Stajan, Jackman, MacDonald, and Comeau for second round or later draft picks. These guys can all be replaced easily within the system.

I hope Feaster doesn't feel pressure to offload him by Wednesday. He is still under contract for a couple of seasons, so the draft is a possibility too.

Question is when is his value highest / when's he going to get the most back?

Quite often, it's the deadline, but it does limit which teams you can make a deal with.

He has one more season left under contract. I think he needs to be traded by the end of this summer. If they wait until next years deadline, he could and probably would do what Iggy did, in listing 4 teams with the best shot at a cup.

In the summer teams have not yet fully formed and everybody is back to 0 in the standings.
