To me that could work but maybe I’m way off
For both?
Not a chance.

If Hoglander was shooting at his career average he’d have 7 goals and 13 points on the year… he’s riding an unsustainable heater, like Kuzmenko did last season.

A 2nd and a 4th? Lol what an awful take. I will bet my house he gets more than that.

I honestly hope you are right that an uninspired, fun 9 million dollar seeking free agent brings more than that

The Canucks will (and honestly should) trade their 1st this year. Lindholm and Guentzel are going to be the two best players on the market. Willing to bet $50 that they move their 1st for one of those two guys.

That’d be the worst return for a rental player like Lindholm in a long time. Greenway got a second last year. 1st plus a B prospect is the baseline.

Lindholm is not going for that little, but I do think some people are going to be severely upset with the return Lindholm gets.

It's pretty much guaranteed at this point.

I agree
But
Caps are tight and this is quite possibly the worst deadline in quite a long time to be a seller

That makes Lindholm even more valuable this deadline. His contract can fit basically on any team at the deadline and I’m not sure why this one will be any worse than other ones. 1st and a prospect is a rental price.

Yeah, anyone expecting a top prospect will be disappointed unless there is a significant bidding war which I don’t see happening when he is pacing like he is.

I still think Lindholm can be part of a new teams future.

Going for players who seem stalled this year or pushed down due to depth

1st and frost for Lindholm

1st and Lyndell for Lindholm.

Lindholm to Boston makes the most sense to me.

They don't have their 1st, 2nd or 3rd round pick in 2024.

Boy would that be disappointing as a Flames fan

Some franchises really don’t appreciate what they have been given. Was reading a few penguin fan discussions on their reddit pages after their loss tonight to the coyotes and it shocks me how angry so many penguins fans are with Letang and Malkin and how they want them traded yesterday… or even placed on waivers. I know they are a little upset for how they lost to the coyotes tonight… but I can’t imagine ever hating two guys that have helped bring so much success to your favourite franchise.

If any flames players ever brought in 3 Stanley cups in the span of a decade… I would happily watch and cheer for them to stay on the team as long as they wanted to play hockey. Even if it meant the team was bad/mediocre. Would never have a bad thing to say about them as long as they were classy professionals. Most NHL teams are bad or mediocre for decades with nothing to show for it… to have what the penguins have had and be so angry that these players are still around is strange.

I know some of them want to replace these guys with younger players to get Crosby another cup but my understanding is that it was important to Crosby that these guys stuck around with him cause he wanted to try again with them. But even still, the amount of hate for these players is over the top. 3 cups in the span of 10 years and they are basically being hated on so bad by their fans… for getting old.

Don’t imagine either of them want to be traded anyways. They have full NMCs and likely want to retire as penguins. Which I would absolutely respect and honor if I was a penguins fan.

Having their picks in the 2025 draft would actually probably work out pretty good. Their pick this year would be so late in the draft, they are more likely to be further down the standings next year than this year at this point.

My guess is that regardless where Lindholm ends up, the return will be:

2 prospects...one that is ready to play right now and one who is further away but has the resume.

2nd round pick.

2025 1st plus a good prospect was what I was thinking.

Rasta masta is the true CP insider. He's had a few now, thing is he tends not to post insider stuff until a day or two before. But it's awesome when he does.

I think his last one was the Backlund deal, bang on to the dollar a day or two early.
