2026 1st is a good chunk of meat. Prime meat regardless of what it ends up being.

Now that I have looked... I am back to my original stance of passing on all UFAs. Stick to what we have within the organization and promote prospects.

If there is any truth to the idea that some additional vets may want out after Andersson is traded then we do not need to sign a UFA to become trade bait.
Lomberg is a pending UFA. Love the guy but Jeanotte is a tier or two above on the physical side of things.

I’d be comfortable with signing Jeanotte on a 2-3 year deal low cap hit and deal Lomberg at the TDL. Sure, you may only get a fourth or a fifth but it’s not nothing.

I've been thinking about a probably very unlikely scenario but just for discussion sake. If the flames had the second pick and Misa was taken first overall do the flames draft Schaefer or do they go for the next best center?

BPA. Take the LD to play with Parekh. Or frondell

Wait till pick one was taken before agreeing to the trade.

Good question. I'd look at trading down one spot, grab more assets and draft Frondell.

Taking Schaefer isn't a terrible option though.

An, I sincerely would hope that after all of the open statements of needing a center and the rumors leading up to the draft that they're trying to trading up, that the Flames would draft the next best center at 2nd overall.

You still take Schaefer. Flames would have the best future defensemen prospects in the league.

One thing is clear - Manitobans are westerners. Share our western culture and you can probably extend the western culture into Northern Ontario - up to about Sudbury or North Bayish. More in common with us than Toronto and the rest of Ontario. But I digress.
Intentionally vague so that they can say they knew all along.

The reward is not worth the logjam. All seats are taken and this team is trying to commit to making spots for youth.

Huberdeau-Kadri-Coronato
Farabee-Frost-Sharangovich
Zary-Backlund-Coleman
Lomberg-Kirkland-Pospisil
X: Klapka

Adding a UFA to the bottom half of the roster has no real benefit and all it really does is block guys already in the organization. I would rather see more of Klapka or ... ANY of our prospects over Jeannot. Stromgren, Gridin, Honzek, Suniev, Basha, Battaglia are all more interesting adds (to me) than signing Jeannot.

The only forward I would want to add is a #1C that can push Kadri to #2C.

Even on D, I would rather promote Kuznetsov, Solovyov, and Parekh than sign a UFA. It's time to see what we have been developing all of these years and see if they sink or swim. If they sink, oh well, Mckenna time.

^ in general I agree but if we're making some trades that'll free up some spots.

Trading Coleman this summer and signing Jeannot would be fine by me.

A logjam only exists if you refuse to make room.

Agreed. I would 100% take Jeannot. He is the type of player you need in the playoffs and adding him makes Pospisil or Coleman expendable. Or we keep those guys for now and trade Zary or Sharangovich

I think adding Jeanott we could trade 2 wingers

Signing a bum like Jeanott and moving a skilled winger would put Conroy on thin ice. Just awful.

Coleman, Pospisil and Zary to me are all potentially in play, to a lesser extent Kadri and Backs but I honestly think they both want to stay here. If mostly futures come back if those 3 were to be traded then I’d happily bring in a player like Jeannot. It’s going to be a fun next 20 or so hours!!

Depends what he gets back in exchange for the skilled winger, doesn't it?

I’m fine with Jeannot if only because he actively makes the team worse. Go all in on drafting high in 26 and 27.

Thank god they overperformed this year and didn’t give Montreal a stellar pick because Treliving is a dumbass.
