That could very well be the 32nd pick in the draft. Right now if the season ended the Habs would get the Flames first at 19th overall while Calgary would draft 24th (NJ) and 26th (Fla). It is risky of the Flames remain outside the top 10 but right now there looks to be zero chance the Florida pick will not convey this year as it is top 10 protected.
Are the Flames desperate to trade for a pick that is 11-19th? If it lands in the top 10 the Habs get the Florida pick and the Flames are fine.

And after - he scored 60 points 3 straight years in LA. But he was never the guy - and Zegras probably needs a lot of support.

Funny enough Hanifin might be another.

Hamilton and Hanifin where much younger, especially if you needed to consider signing them long term.

They're talking about (David) Jiricek, who is 20 (he will turn 21 in a couple weeks).
The Flames traded for Hamilton just after he turned 22, and Hanifin was 21. So no, they were not "much younger". Or younger at all, for that matter.

Not in Columbus though. He forced a trade by being bad.

I think there is way too much focus on getting that pick back for something that is highly not probable.

Sorry, I thought it was a comparison between trading Andersson and the Hamilton/Hanifin acquisitions.
I do think that Hamilton and Hanifin were more established than Jiricek.

Craig's phone remains a hotline right now, there's lots of interest in Andersson and Vladar currently. Note that Calgary isn't "selling" either of these guys on the open market, but Craig isn't against trading either of them if the deal makes sense.
Buffalo and Nashville are the 2 teams most interesting in long term pieces.
Penguins are always open for help, but don't have a lot to offer the Flames that fits into our window.
I expect Buffalo to be the next team to make something happen, Adam's wants to improve now but also doesn't seem to be interested in moving his NHL pieces, so more so prospects/picks.

I really wonder what the Ducks will do with Zegras. One goal (an empty netter) in 15 games, and only two assists. I doubt the Ducks want to trade him within the division, but feels like an ideal trade partner in a buy low scenario. He's only 23, and just hasn't been developed properly in Anaheim.

They should really be trying to move Vladar now... if they can get significant assets in return why not make the deal now? Vladar has been good this season, but we all know he could turn into a pumpkin at any point. He has been untradable at points during his stay in Calgary. I feel that even a second rounder or a good prospect would be a good return for a career backup. Cooley can then be called up, and Wolf gets a few more starts (60-65% of the games). It's just such an obvious move that doesn't hurt the Flames one bit.

If we can help Buffalo improve (Andersson, Kadri, Pospisil?)…that’s the perfect team to by trading with:
- Konsta Helenius
- Anton Wahlberg
- Draft picks
Lesser pieces:
- Jiri Kulich
- Noah Ostlund
- Adam Kleber
There are pieces there. Helenius and Wahlberg being the two that stick out as being pieces Conroy would probably love.
