While I don't doubt that Frank is very connected as an insider, I didn't like his abrasive style much. Also the whole "why wouldn't you cheer for Edmonton?" as some sort of passive-aggressive ribbing was just weird. The more I listened to him, the more I felt my gears were grinding.

Dreger I actually like, though I don't really feel he is as connected as Frank was (is). Still, I appreciate how he comes across now. He used to be a personality that I really disliked in the past, but either I have changed, or he has changed. I usually enjoy his segments.

Noodles is always a fun listen. One of the best storytellers out there, and definitely the best guest they have on.

Personally, it feels like Barn Burner has gone off the rails. I am sure it isn't easy to keep things fresh, but it just seems overly manufactured and has been for some time. I used to really love listening to this, and now I just try to watch the Noodles and Dreger segments for the most part. Not sure what happened, but it doesn't feel the same any longer for some reason. Hopefully it reverts back to what it used to be, but i have been really giving up on the show overall. I probably wouldn't ever listen if it wasn't for Noodles, to be honest. Hey, maybe it is just me and people feel the complete opposite. I do wish their show success. I personally just noticed that I wasn't enjoying it any longer.

Edit: Francis I detested with every last cell of my body. However, he has been much better. I can't say that I love him, but I don't hate him any longer either. So maybe it is me changing? He seems way less abrasive and 'click-baity' than he seemed to be, though I do think he still does this at times. I just noticed he has improved.... or once again, I have changed. Coin-flip on that one.

I don't mind listening to Frank during his radio spots on 960, but if you really want to gain a dislike for him, try listening to him on the Daily Faceoff podcast with Jason Gregor. Dude comes across like a Grade A bully / #######.

Frank is one of the more connected insiders.

But he also has a pretty grating personality, and that's just how he presents in the public. I imagine he's worse behind the scenes.

As someone else has mentioned, you can tell Steinberg has a tone shift when Frank comes on. He's not as friendly with Frank and keeps it pretty professional.

Sorry for not liking Frank and not having all the time to consume every last second of all the contents.

Going forward I'm not going to watch every last second of their podcast either but I'm more likely to check out a few episodes.
They're pretty good these days at (a) including whoever the guest is in the title of each show video and (b) clipping the guest segments separately, so hopefully that makes it a bit easier to jump in when someone you enjoy is on.

You said it better than I did. It speaks volumes IMO.

I see they have Matthew Barnaby on today. Is he new to the show?

If you're watching Barnburner for "insider content" I have to say... I think you're doing it wrong.

I don't watch or listen much anymore, only for Rhett if I do. He still is so awesome to listen to when he talks about stories or insights.

Rhett reminds me a bit of my own brother. When someone counters his argument or points and he has nothing left to stand on (ie: knows he's wrong) he resorts to shouting and insults.

I liked Frank as he seemed to get under Pinder's skin or would take him to task. I like that Boom and Rhett seem to be poking at Pinder with his debate tactics arguing both sides. Pinder adds to the mix but I like it most when the guys needle him and he gets frustrated.

It's a very specific brand of western Canadian guy. One of my buddies is the exact same way.

Rhett, Boom and Pinder have a unique adversarial chemistry. That's why the show works.

I kinda wish their guest interviews were shorter but more often, but that's minor.

I love that I can listen to the pod on my own time.

I tried to scroll back and find the answer, but did something occur between Barn Burner and Frank that he stopped making appearances?

As soon as anybody starts with that 'why wouldn't you cheer for edmonton' bit to an obvious fan of a rival team they are just being abrasive. I was neutral on Serevalli before that, now I just know what a clown he is. That's what fans do to trash talk, not impartial 'insiders'. Servalli can get bent.

I've only met Rhett in passing as my kid was in a flames alumni camp where he and Glencross were coaching the kids.

But he is true to life... A dad on my kid's team ran into him and his kid (at an outdoor rink maybe?) as they live in the same area and said hockey dad's kid was wearing a leafs jersey as they are from Ontario. Rhett was 'why are you wearing that, they suck!'. No filter, and I love the guy for it.
