I’d say some of the adds along the way have helped. No, they haven’t made it back to the finals. But they’ve still been a very good team.

They got a bunch of assets, yes.
They didn’t sit on them or try to “develop” them - They pushed their chips to the centre of the table, used those picks and prospects to acquire veterans and elite players, signed big-ticket free agents, and they’ve been to the conference finals twice in four years of existence.

At least they had a window. The Flames have been mediocre my entire life. I want to see them actually be somewhat successful for once.

And if it is, they made two conference finals in their first four years as an expansion team.
Remember six years ago when we made it to the second round?

I have no doubt they will fall and they will feel the pains of all the spending of assets and short-sighted signings/trades. There will be plenty of us who say “we told you so”. But I will still give them credit for going for it.

The package the Flames could offer is without a doubt not as good as the Ducks, Kings, Rangers. BUT if those teams were smart they would just keep building qith what they have. In which case maybe the Flames have a shot. But I think the Sabres would be better off keeping Richel than taking what the Flames could offer.

How are they better off keeping a player who refuses to play for them?

Then we need to improve our offer. The game is about winning. Time for the Flames to win one. Time for Tre to pull out a win for the team.

I wanted to wake up to Eichel being traded to us. But I have a feeling today is the day.

And how successful would they be with Jack Eichel, because Jack Eichel has not been a playoff staple? This is a player who is supposed to be a difference maker but has proven to be anything but a difference maker in getting his team to the post season. Yes, he is talented. Yes, he scores a lot. But at the same time there is a definite Taylor Hall vibe about him. Winning just doesn’t seem to follow the guy around. I’m in favor of going after Eichel, but you have to go into these things eyes wide open, and for many I don’t think that is the case. Eichel has not been the magic elixir on any team he’s played for. Just understand what you’re getting in the deal.

I get the same feeling. He’s starting to look like a bit of a diva. He has a broken neck and more than likely won’t be available for the full season next year let alone be able to properly train this offseason.
He’s become like a bag of magic beans on here thiugh. But is he really that great? If he’s that great how come Buffalo has finished in the bottom quarter if the standings since he was drafted. Shouldn’t they have won the cup every single year like we’re going to after we aquire him for a third of our top 6 forwards our best prospect and a few first round draft choices.
If we do pick him up will he walk to Calgary on water?

The Oilers suck, is mcdavid great?
It’s not like the Flames has won. They need to change the core badly. Worst case they just continue like they are today.

Eichel is that great, honestly
To put Buffalos struggles all on Eichel is ridiculous, look at the teams that have been built around him. The best winger he's had is Skinner and he helped him put up 40 goals and get a huge payday
Iginla was 27 and had played 8 full seasons with 0 playoff appearances before 03/04. Was Iginla the problem?

Was Iginla the solution for Pittsburgh, Boston or Colorado?
The reason the Flames never made the playoffs before '03-04 is that they couldn't afford to pay any real players and had to make do with B prospects and castoffs. With the salary cap, that problem doesn't exist anymore. You can't use that as an excuse for Buffalo.
