This should be in green text right? There's no way that Project 2025 is dead, they just overplayed their hand and made the whole thing public too soon. They might shuffle some chairs around and remove the website, but every goal in that project will still be a part of the GOP platform if Trump wins
Dans will move into an advisory with Trump. This was planned awhile ago and is nothing new. Would be great if it was but this is nothing but a deflection in the news cycle. Dans, Heritage Fund and Project 2025 are still massive issues to be dealt with.
Not sure if it's been posted yet, but Pete Buttigieg was on the the Daily Show this week, and it's so refreshing to hear an educated, intellectual speaker with humility, tact and formidable delivery; he'd be an absolutely terrific pick for VP, but I'm also sure he's too progressive, brainy and smart for most American's palettes these days (not mine, but the Republican cult and possibly undecided voters for sure). He's also gay, which may be a problem (for some archaic reason) for many people.
He is the type of leader that America needs right now.
Buttgieg is a terrible VP pick. He may speak well, but he's been incredibly ineffective as Transportation Secretary and has zero appeal to progressives, minorities, and young voters within the Democratic party itself, let alone when you look outside at independents and undecideds.

It wasn't, and I took that tweet literally, but I can see your side as well that this doesn't mean that it's over and it still could happen.

Disagree. Not sure about his effectiveness as Transportation Secretary, but he is the kind of candidate that would have tons of appeal to those groups you listed; he's a very good representation of many of them - and an active vocal rep for them too.
What has (or hasn't) he done as Transportation Secretary that you didn't like?

This is an interesting take. You think Buttigeg is that unappealing? To progressives of all people?

Deepfake Biden endorsed President Cackles or President Booty Juice, so I think your vibes are spot on with what the universe is conspiring to deliver.

Buttigieg would be an amazing VP and president. I’m just not sure the U.S. is ready for him. May never be, I dunno.

I'm not saying this is rubecube's feelings, but perfection is the enemy of good, and I think many on the far left (again, not saying rubecube feels this way or is part of the far left) fall into the pursuit of a candidate who checks all boxes they have and seek out perfect alignment.

I read that they expected the Project 2025 work to be done by the convention anyway ready for use so the guy leaving maybe is just more a symbolic victory and Trump exercising authority.. visible distancing rather than actual distancing. I tend to agree with Hemi and think they're just trying to squash some of the blowback.

Yes. Go look at his performance in the 2020 primaries. He had negative approval ratings among progressives, especially in the the 18 - 40 range. It was even worse among black and latino voters.
He's been a corporate shill/donor class representative for the bulk of his professional and political life, and his political and policy positions tend to shift with the winds.

Aside from being gay, he's pretty much an establishment democrat, which doesn't phase me, but lots of the progressive left don't cotton to him. The thing is, that part of the left wing likes almost no one (they even think Bernie is a sellout now).
Modern conservatism is a response to Social justice* becoming the dominant cultural driver.
Most art and entertainment prioritizes social justice, especially on social media. This has replaced and in many cases contradicts the previous cultural norms. Until the 2010s the dominant cultural driver in the USA was Christianity. Now those people and their ideals are no longer at the center on American art and entertainment.
The previous GOP was a polite and well structured party because they shared and promoted the dominant cultural values. Now that they do not ( at least in the world of pop culture and media) they are expressing themselves as rebels who need to fight the system. this has opened the doors to popularizing people who push against social justice*. many of whom do so by being flippant and brash.
* I'm not sure exactly what the right word to use is, though politically correct kind of hammers the point home about how pervasive "progressive ideology is.
I think the word you're looking for is... woke

Any one of Walz, Shapiro, Buttigeg, or Kelly would make a great VP. There's no such thing as a perfect candidate, and none of these guys are gonna check all the boxes that people want. No matter who ends up getting the gig, someone will always be unhappy.

This is the stump speech. Hope she can mix it up a bit because it's already sounding a bit canned - the bit at the opening about "knowing Trump's type" was a good bit to start with but it'll get old quick.
I'm also concerned about the degree to which they're salivating over the debate. Yeah, call the guy a coward, running scared, but just a quick hit, because this is what has repeatedly happened. In 2016 all he had to do was not set the podium on fire and #### himself, he pulled that off and the whole hype about how bad Hillary was going to demolish him completely had the air let out of it. They keep falling for this expectation game nonsense.

LOL, sounds legit. Clearly a ####ty joke from a ####ty tv personality, but still...I just hope she wins so she can shove these comments back in their smarmy pinhead faces.
