A concern I would have though is developers are developers, they want to make as much money as possible. So there’s nothing stopping them from still getting as much as possible AND taking government money. Any scheme seems to not guarantee lower prices but has a real chance of increased developer profits. Maybe if you could somehow spur more housing coops or something you’d gain some ground but I suspect in many places these policies will sound good and have zero impact on housing prices.
I would sincerely hope that there would be contract language in place with any developer who signs on to prevent price-gouging.
I also agree that more co-ops and public housing options are better long-term problems policies, but can't have something like that in North America because it's communism or something.
Side note, stuff like this should really be the end of any claims that the NDP are a bunch of socialists. This is still largely a market-based policy proposal.
Trials for people who administered the vaccine. There's a bunch of candidates with these vaccine views
The article you posted shows Rustad was a guest at an online meeting where right wing freedom convoy type asked him about it and he replied confused.
And that's from a far left media site even, that's desperately trying to frame it.
So as I asked, do you have a source and he or other party candidates want to imprison people who administer vaccines?
Should be easy since there's a "bunch" of them.

He went to a town hall with people who want "Nuremberg 2.0"
You can act coy like you don't know what these people espouse, but I don't buy that a leader of a provincial party didn't know. He went on a forum to talk with people who believe the COVID vaccine was deadly and they want to send people to jail over saving Canadians lives. It's not like he went there to talk healthcare with people. This online town hall was ONLY for people who believe this about the vaccines. They're crackpots, conspiracy theorists, and people who should be nowhere near leadership. This isn't like he was surprised by this question in a real policy conversation about something important.
So go ahead and ask for specifics if you like, or discuss the bias of the website that simply printed his words, but he's what was said, and here's the link to the actual video:
Quote:
"Are you okay or for a Nuremberg 2.0?” Ferguson asked.
“A new and bigger two point oh, sorry?” Rustad replied confused, prompting the anti-vaccine activist to repeat himself more slowly: “Nuremberg.”
“Nuremberg 2.0 – ah, yes,” Rustad repeated.
“That’s probably something that’s outside of my scope…”
“I know, that’s a hard one, I knew it, I knew it,” Ferguson interrupted. “I put you on the hot spot right there, for sure, but I had to ask.”
“No, no, it’s fine,” Rustad replied. “Like I say, that’s something that’s sorta outside the scope in terms of jurisdiction of British Columbia but if, you know, we would certainly be participating with other jurisdictions as we look at those sorts of issues.”

I already stated my dismay that he was entertaining these types with Rube first posted it.
Meeting with these people and saying he wish he never got vaccinated is enough for me.

Another election with no good options.
I asked for specifics because you made a specific claim.
At first I assumed you were talking about another Conservative MLA candidate and wanted to see what they said.
Pretending he said anything about imprisoning vaccine administers, when what actually happened is he met with people who believe that, is an unnecessary exaggeration.
I'm not condoning his meeting these people, but I also don't understand the need to make things up.

7 years of solid, productive and healthy governance by the NDP, in the process of fixing the massive amount of damage left by the BC Liberals/United and all of this good work at risk of being undone by the public safety file. Rustad is Trump in 2016. No expectation to win. No plan for if he does win because he had no expectations to win. Just herding crazies and grifting their money. And if he does win, this Province is going to back slide so hard you'd have thought it was attached to an elastic band.
I want to puke.

What is going on in Society?
Pre-Covid I identified as a Conservative. Simply because I wanted our Social Services and Social Programs to be solvent and remain able to serve people.
I was not, nor ever have been, 'Socially Conservative.' Merely fiscally.
People can do what they want.
But we're seeing the rise in demand of this kind of thing all over the world. America, South America, Brexit, Italy, France barely dodged it, Eastern Europe...
This is a very disturbing trend.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
I think it's mostly because a much larger proportion of our population than we thought is dumber than we thought, and politicians have clued in on this. They cater to them, because a vote is a vote, and they are so damn easy to cater to. They don't care that you lie to their face, as long as you tell them you'll look into their chem trail concerns, they are yours.

People are scared. Climate change is scary. Automation is scary, AI is scary. Inflation worsens that fear. Now put the best anxiety inducing drug called social media right into people's veins and suddenly the most scared people look for the loudest and strongest voices

It's just the ebbs and flows of politics. When people aren't happy they vote for change. This is all more of a reflection on the incumbents than anything else. The people that voted for the incumbent last election that are considering changing their vote didn't become dumb over a matter of years. They simply aren't happy with the current government and are looking at the grass on the other side of the fence. If a new party takes their place then they will be on the clock.
