Personally I think it's Andersson + 11. Trading into the top 12 doesn't prevent you from then moving into the top 4 afterwards.
And realistically neither of those packages get you into the top 4.
If you age adjust their seasons then O'Brien actually outperforms Misa at the same age in terms of points...I think he could easily be in that group as an equal to Misa or Desnoyers etc

He's 175ish as well. When he gets stronger, he could be the top center in this draft.
Buffalo is a mess too. Not sure who all wants out, but if they need to move out some players but want to avoid a rebuild, the Flames depth could allow Conroy to swoop in and make a trade and keep his 1sts. Buffalo does make trades players over picks.
Zary and Pospisil for 9? Draft O'Brien at 9.
Ras 50% RS for 12
12 & 31 for 10 and future pick- draft Martin.
Nice little 1/2 punch up the middle skill and grit.

I'd use Zary and keep picks.
Not sure if it is a sign but Conroy signed Coronato very quickly, Frost and Zary not signed and no rumours they are close. Maybe it isn't going well.
If Zary wants long term and similar money as Coronato, trade him.

It is Buffalo...they traded Eichel and put huge stock in the value of Tuch.
Buffalo has players wanting out, is on every players NTC, will not get UFAs and does not want to rebuild.

I mean you can hope for it but won’t happen. Buffalo has enough players like Zary and Pospisil.

I'd be offering 18 + Pospisil for 9 and hoping like hell that O'Brien is there.
6'2", late birthday, production took off in the second half of the season.
That's the guy that's going to pop next year and have people wondering how he wasn't a top 5 pick.

……..um, wud?
Top 5 pick? If Martin Posposil is being considered as a top 5 in retrospect, then perhaps Josh Jooris was as well.

They are talking about Obrien as a top 5 pick, not Pospisil

I'd rather stay put or move up slightly for Reschny than pay the significant price it would take to land an O'Brien or McQueen in the 6-9 range personally.

Agree on McQueen but I'd do it for O'Brien. Checks basically every box. I do love Reschny though!

Seems clear they have someone in mind and are willing to try and move up to get him.
Now sprinkle in them rumors from Serivalli saying he thinks more than a few top 5 teams are willing to move their pick, well that give me all sorts of Tingley feelings of hope for a player of Frondells ilk.

Flames are in desperate need of quality over quantity prospects right now.
If someone alot higher open their lists and the chance becomes available to move up,I hope they'd do it.
I'd give both 1sts for Martin or O'Brian

To be fair I dont think Calgary is looking to target McQueen as their moveup draft pick.
I think Calgary is swinging for the fences and trying to get #2 for Misa.
SJ high on Andersson.
SJ looking to compete ASAP - Front runners for Marner.
But the hangup may be Calgary's pick(s) are so late in the 1st.

Ras, both 25 firsts, pospisil and Mews.
Hard to imagine we'd see a 5 for 1 deal but how else are you ever going to make something like that happen? Not exactly junk going sj's way there either.
Or how about this...
Wolf + Raz
for
Askarov + #2
I feel dirty writing wolf's name down...

Anderson
18th
31/32nd
What else could tip the scales??
2026 LV pick?
Prospect (Honzek, Brz, Mews, etc)?
Veteran winger (Coleman, Farabee, etc)?
I can't imagine what could be remotely intersting to them.

Jeez. If Conroy managed to somehow snag 2 to grab Michael Misa, that'd be bronze statue worthy.

I would add Vegas’ 2026 1st (top 16 PROTECTED) in the mix if the Flames really want to get the #2 pick.
Would San Jose say no to 18, Andersson, and Vegas’/Calgary’s 1st (Vegas gets the lower value pick, if both miss the playoffs then the pick is moved to 2027 top 10-protected)?
You get a guarantee to an RD, a good mid 1st, and a 1st for next season. Top that off with some decent odds to potentially get Ekblad and/or Marner and that’s a completely different team over in Northern California.
Flames get Misa and still retain the highest of either pick in 2026.
