Now I guess Debra meets Dexter's code though... but if this show goes the route of Dexter killing his sister then I'll probably stop watching, as that would be a ridiculous, incomprehensible twist.

Backup was obviously too busy at the New Years party.

There has to be some questions raised with Deb calling in a GPS tracker on Laguerta right before the murder. Also, Laguerta must have started other balls rolling with the video tape footage from the gas station and the warrant for the GPS data on their phones. Speaking of that, wouldn't Dexter have turned off the GPS on his phone when he was killing/dumping people?

with a normal police department yes, but Debra could just say
"she was supposed to be at the NYE party, I wanted to make sure she was ok"

Not sure what happens in real life with cops but on TV this seems to be the norm.
On Justified it is amazing how many times Raylan goes to places with no back-up or telling anyone where he is. Now Laguerta is no Raylan Givens but it seems to be how TV cops roll, especially when dealing with dangerous criminals that have no problem killing people at the drop of a hat and when going somewhere nobody would expect you to be.
But with the way Laguerta has been handling this case it isn't so improbable that she wouldn't tell anyone since she really hasn't the whole time and throw in the fact that she is such a glory hound you could make the case she wanted to make the bust herself to take all the glory and move up politically.

With this department she could just tell the truth and then say "but we will ignore it since everyone here has done illegal things at least 3 or 4 times themselves so this still makes me the best cop in Miami Homicide."

I think that is key. I mean, she really couldn't call backup considering the hot water she was already in for going after Dexter/releasing Estrada. Personally I found it rather plausible she would in fact go alone, she had to be sure Dexter was involved as she would likely have been fired on the spot if she had called backup and was "wrong" again.

Right but Deb doing the GPS track on Laguerta and then disappearing from the party for a couple of hours at the exact time of either:
a) Laguerta's approximate time of death if the body is still there
or
b) The last time Laguerta was known to be alive if she disappears
is the exact opposite of an alibi. I'm sure they'll just gloss over the details next season though.
Also, how the hell did Deb's dress not have blood on it after she went and cuddled with Maria after shooting her?

All great points, and it would just be too coincidental for Laguerta to die/disappear without someone expecting Dex to be the one behind it.
I also wonder how come no one on the police force finds it strange how Dexter becomes involved with seemingly every strange unrepeatable individual on the show, and then usually those individuals end up dead or disappeared?

I believe in the Jays.

That was a great finale. I don't know why so many people have negative things to say about this show, I think it has been great throughout.

Overall, I thought it was a good season, but I was a bit disappointed in how it ended.
One of the things that I really liked about Dexter was his code and that he never killed for personal gain. Dexter deciding to kill Laguerta was a let down. And I didn't really care for Debra finishing it for him. I would have liked it better if Dexter just framed Laguerta for that last kill, but let her live.
I am surprised that Quinn is still alive. Especially since the Ukrainian brotherhood would likely still want to kill him, and yet they haven't been mentioned in the last few episodes.
Anyway, there are still great things about this season. Sirko was awesome. I liked Hannah. I figured that she would die, but am not disappointed with her escape. It does set things up for her to return, but I think that she won't. I also loved the Doakes flashbacks in the finale. He was a great part of the show.

I'd disagree and say it hasn't been great throughout but that was a very strong finale. No doubt about that.

There hasn't been much hate from what I'm seeing, a lot of talk on how they are going to wrap up all the loose ends though.
