Huh? I spent the afternoon hosing down the steps of City Hall.

They did not seem to like that one bit, they were downright rude considering that I was doing them a favour!

My invoice is going to reflect their intolerable behaviour!

This is a nothing burger. There are giant lake sized ponds next to every single bridge/highway turn off in this city. Why doesn't GONDEK simply drain those down if we're running low? Or better yet, drain Chestemere Lake. #### those guys.

The same people who complained "why didn't they prevent this?" are now "why are they trying to prevent this from happening again?". Honestly can't win.

That being said, I do agree that people are less willing to change their habits this time, but that will be offset by less outdoor activities, less need for watering, etc. But I do expect that we'll be getting a collective guilt trip and wrist slap around Friday or Saturday when the weather gets hot again.

The bolded seems to be the sentiment from most people I talk to.

"I already conserved water a month ago, and I'm not going to be inconvenienced now because the city didn't plan the repairs and maintenance better"

The city council and admin definitely can't win, but they also majorly bungled the communications and change management on this.

I took a barrel of water and dumped into the Glenmore reservoir and all I got was: "what are you doing here, where did you get that?" and "come with us sir..."

Some people are really ungrateful.

Usage dropped again yesterday, down to 497ML, getting closer to the 450ML target.

Today's number should be even lower due to the weather. If not, then we can't just blame lawns and gardens.

The next week or so is going to be pretty warm - 29 on Monday. That will be an interesting test. A test that we'll probably fail miserably.

We had widespread compliance with the earlier water restrictions and we didn’t fail anything. Why are people around here acting like nobody in this city follows rules when it’s demonstrably the case that the great majority of people do?

I think it's just because the people that aren't compliant are so loud about it it makes it seem like there are more of them. People seem extra whiny this time around

And top that off with half of those people just lying and secretly complying.

Your strange compulsion to post a zany response in every single thread on this forum is something to behold. It's frankly amazing you have any time to do accounting work.

How can there be a water shortage when it's raining?

Feel free to drink as much rain water as you can.

I think that people will - when they absolutely have to. I agree that the vocal minority will be offset by the silent majority again, but even the best rule followers are still feeling fatigue and complacency.

That's why I fully expect a nice little "good job everyone!" tomorrow when we dip below the target briefly (thanks to the weather, mostly), and then a frown and a finger wag in a few days when the temperatures start getting hot again.

I just don't think that enough people care until it gets dire. Some will never care, but even those that do/did, seem to be less interested.

Probably less the water and more the body parts in the barrel that they are concerned about.

I wonder if fatigue is just setting in on people. All we have heard since 2020 is restrictions, compliance, etc.

I am not talking about the nutbars who protested everything, I just mean the normal people who followed the rules. People are probably getting tired of the same messaging.
