Just invade France before the knockout stages, and there can still be a World Cup with Germany.

Koreans and Mexicans together doing tequila shot over Germany demise is the best thing ever. Twitter today has been a joy to follow!

I'm not sure how good Mexico should be feeling after that beat-down.

I was hoping for Brazil to get dumped today too, but I'll have to settle for only Germany.
LOVE seeing soccer superpowers falter. You've had your glory, now get out of the way for the rest of the world!

You never know. In soccer one game is so different than another. You have to be in it to win it.
Mexico have a history of giving Brazil trouble at all age levels. I wish Korea were in the bracket who knows what could happen.

^^congrats on that result this morning. Certainly historic from many perspectives. Interestingly enough I was at the Olympic final in London when Mexico beat Brasil, I believe these are many of the same players including A much younger Neymar.

Lol guess we’ll just have to be the villain. Neymar played a very good game, the hate is hilarious.

The embellishment is really indefensible.

Mexico will be without their no.1 CB in Moreno. They will have to be much better to hold off Brasil who now seem to be hitting form.

The issue is not with his talent. He is a talented player for sure.
It is every thing else that comes with it. It is very annoying seeing top performers blatantly diving. It is absolutely disgusting and has no place in the sport.
I hope they figure a way out to suspend and fine players post game to cut it out from the sport. Such a beautiful sport, but some players absolutely sully it with such pathetic acts.

While I wish he wouldn’t do it as it takes away from the positives he did in the game I really could care less. The hysteria on social media is funny tho. Was a dangerous tackle that could’ve been a red. Oh well, being the villain is fun

It was absolute exaggeration. I would categorize that as a dive/simulation, but those are just semantics. In the 21st century, when everything can be seen from multiple angles, something has to be done to reduce the simulation aspect.
Brazil looked really good in the game today though.
I wish Germany had made it through to have a Round of 16 (or later) clash with Brazil, but they didn't deserve it after their showing this world cup. Some really big changes are hopefully incoming before Euro 2020.

It was embellishment but it was not a dive and it was a rough tackle. I’m not excusing the roll arounds but diving is much different then embellishment. Again, I’d rather not him do it, but I won’t let it stop me from enjoying his work on the field.
I agree, I wanted Brasil to get over the mental hurdle of Germany and get redemption from the last World Cup. They never properly filled the holes left by Scweinsteiger and Lahm. Also, Low should too much loyalty to Khedira and Gomez when their spots could’ve gone to younger alternatives. That being said, none of the german younger players stepped up, Reus was a big no show, as was Draxler, Werner, Brandt, and Goeretzka. They played poorly leading up to the World Cup and it was obvious this was not the same team as 2014. Not including Sane was ridiculous, he would’ve brought another dynamic to the too predicatble German attack.
They really missed that elite deep lying CDM that has been a staple of German football. Kroos also needed a partner in midfield to control the game but Ozil was no where to be found.

Also, for those who care, Marcelo’s injury was not serious and was just back spasms. Hope he fully recovers and doesn’t try to play through pain going forward. Felipe Luis played very well as his replacement.

Congrats to South Korea on the historic upset. Of course this makes Australia the worst performing team from Asia.
There is a lot of anger here directed at the Socceroos performance with questions raised about tactics, player usage, and overall direction.
I would like the team to play a more aggressive style. Their current European possession style keeps things competitive but they don't have the strikers to caplitalise on their chances. I am however realistic that a nation of 22 million of mostly non soccer fans is going to have trouble winning games at the Cup and that just qualifying and playing in close games is an acceptable expectation.

I thought they looked decent against France, maybe deserved a better fate in that game. They were also in one of the hardest groups based on elo rankings, if not the hardest.
