McDonald is a good pick. It just doesn't make any sense for us to take him. He is one of the best goalies in the draft, but we didn't "need" a goalie like we "need" defensemen. We also don't need plug 3rd/4th line guys either.
Now we have both.

Truthfully, I don't like the pick at all. Seems like a case of a team taking a big huge guy and trying to make a player out of them.

I don't think you should draft for bottom line roles at all. You can fill those voids every year in free agency.
