What’s the investment return on something like a C-train line using this type of math. It’s at least 3-1 plus all of the economic benefit from better transportation infrastructure
These types of ROI statements should be subject to securities laws.

Can we have a separate poll now that we know what we are voting on?

We know you can get insurance, we know how much it costs...But we don't know how much insurance you can get.
Kind of a big deal...

15400 jobs in the letter vs. 13057 jobs in their bid report. Cutting 1000 units of workforce housing. Adding 2343 jobs while cutting housing numbers... ...not questionable at all.

I would be shocked if the votes goes as "no".
It will go through, that's my bet

By the time this debate is over it will be time for the plebiscite.

There's not much mystery here about whether it's going to survive, they've Frankenstein'd this thing enough to ensure they have the 6 votes to proceed. Only question is will the majority still support cancelling. Either way, this whole process has cost the Yes side pretty much any slim chance they have. No one can possibly trust this bid on anything other than emotional terms, and they already had all those voters. They've shrunk their possible vote base, so the goal for them I imagine will propaganda madness, combined with hoping to depress turnout.

It seems so anti-nenshi to want the Olympics. It's so irrational of him. I don't get it. He must have reached the final stage of politician...hubris in the echo chamber.

I’m probably wrong, but you seem pretty sure of yourself and based on your bias, I’d be cautious.
I still think “Yes” votes are going to surprise a lot of people with how high they end up being. We’re in an age where people vote for a whole lot of things that are against their best interest *cough*Trump*cough* because it’s shiny thing that appeals to their emotions.
Not that I think the Yes vote will win, but I’m not confident in that position at all. I don’t think we have half an idea of how this is going to shake out in two weeks.

I would guess:
Proceed to Plebiscite:
Nenshi
Davison
Carra
Sutherland
Chahal
Colley-Urquhart
Jones
Keating
Do not Proceed:
Chu
Farrell
Magliocca
Gondek (she's the one I'm least sure about)
Wolley
Demong
Farkas (because his idea to change the date will fail)
So probably 8-7, but maybe 9-6

But there's nothing shiny in this thing. At all. The fact all the noise and desperation is coming from the Yes side pretty much says it all. And as always with politics, if you're explaining, you're losing. And the Yes side is still explaining two weeks out. The last week sealed the deal I think, even if people wanted to deceive themselves that this can work financially, council, the province and the feds have shown trusting them to get this right is not happening.
But we'll see. And speaking of Trump and spite voting, you have to remember that voting to kill the Olympics spites Nenshi....Notley....and Trudeau. Do you know how many people in this city hate all three of those people? The spite vote is gonna be large no doubt.

I dunno man... that'll still be a lot of voters. I bet the vote will be close (one way or the other). I would have guessed a narrow "yes" a week ago, if I had to put money down now I'd probably say a narrow no. But ultimately I wouldn't make a bet because I think it's hard to say who is going to turn out for this.
