I wonder if "waking dragons out of stone" is an incoming greyscale epidemic. Would be just the kind of ironic twist on people's expectations that GRRM loves. No?

So many theories its awesome how everything can be interpreted differently, probably why so many like the show so much. Very interested to see how it pans out, bring on next season.

I feel that one is a bit of a reach, but very cheeky of Martin to put a comet as Ser Patrick's coat of arms.

The blue comet is actually a reference to the Dallas Cowboys (Ser Patrek was put in the book as a result of a football bet with a fantasy book blogger/reviewer). So I wouldn't read too much into that.

You're right, I forgot all about that.. I think it involved a bet with a fan. Ser Patrek was named to represent the fan and the emblem was for the Cowboys. However Martin is a twisted bugger and also a massive Giants fan. So what does he do? He has a Giant kill the "Cowboy" fan, Ser Patrick. And he takes it one step further, the giants name is Wun Wun, perhaps a reference to legendary Giants QB Phil Simms, #11.
Martin you cheeky bugger you.
I also hope at some point they bring in Wyman Manderly to the show just so we can get the best line in the book about killing the three Frey's:
Quote:
Though mayhaps this was a blessing. Had he lived he would have grown up to be a Frey
|
It probably will happen as Davos is still alive and has yet to be 'executed' and Rickon is also out there. And then he can feed the dead Freys to their family members in the famous 'pies' while they sing Rat Cook.

GreenLantern, in all seriousness - what's with the John thing? You copy his name properly from articles. You spell Jon Connington's name correctly. Yet you intentionally misspell Jon Snow's name incorrectly, every time. Is it an inside joke? Is it because people keep asking you? I'm legitimately curious.

Jon could be the prince who was promised - R+L=J and all that. I had obviously assumed it was Aegon, but be hard to believe that he might be in the book and that he was either different (or ignored) in the series. So I expect Aegon doesn't make it to the end in the books
|
It would be just like Martin to fulfill this prophecy before even bringing it up. I forget, because it's been a while since I read the books, but does Melisandre even know about Dany? Has word about Dany reached her?

Just going over this thread and caught your quote and had me thinking....This more resembles Lightbringer(Flaming Sword) wielded by Azor Ahia.

Is everyone of the belief that Ellaria killed Myrcella with Doran's permission?
It would be pretty stupid to have Ellaria pull a fast one on Doran like that. So I'm hoping it's an attempt to let the viewers think that Doran's just a good guy, not cut out for the game with all the deceit and conniving, then reveal it was his plan to kill Myrcella in a "Fire and Blood"esque reveal.

I wonder how sneaky they can be on set though? It seems like if he filmed a lot of scenes for season six that word would get out. Maybe they plan to bring him back late in the season, so they only need to shoot a couple of scenes with him? Or is it possible that they shot one or two season six scenes during the filming for season five?

Don't really have to though. The buzz is created now, which is good for 'business'. So it would be again, later on, if Kit Harrington is on set
Its not necessarily about hiding it - it is about keeping the buzz going.

ooooh, interesting, I hadn't thought of that.
I thought maybe Ellaria was also killing herself with the kiss. A blood pact of sorts, and that she would go back and kill Doran, knowing she was already dying from the poison.

The ship is Dornish - Elleria may have give the captain order to proceed to Kings Landing regardless of what occurs on board. So if Myrcella IS dead, word won't get back to Dorne for quite a while.
And Bronn is on the ship, so perhaps he will recognize what is happening. It wouldn't surprise me that if he was poisoned once he would acquire some of that antidote to keep handy.
Another thought - if they attempt to maintain some semblance of the book's plot then perhaps there is someone else on board placed by Doran specifically to interrupt Ellaria's potential plans. Was Hotah still on the docks to wheel Doran away?

Wasn't Maggy the Frog's prophecy that Cersei would outlive all of her children before she herself was killed?

If they are keeping with the books, Ellaria's (Arianne in the books) first plan already failed. At this point she would know that Doran is the baddest mother ####er in the land, not the coward everyone thinks he is. And more importantly, Doran wouldn't get fooled by Ellaria. I really hope they don't screw up Doran in the show and have this all part of his plan.
My hopeful prediction is that the boat isn't going to King's Landing at all. Doran's whole secret Targaryen/Martell marriage (first Viserys/Arianne then Quentyn/Daenerys) is still a go, and the new bachelor Trystane is on his way to meet the newly widowed Daenerys. They could still somewhat salvage the reveals of Doran and Varys that currently can't exist in the show (no Aegon for Varys, no Viserys marriage pact without Arianne). Having Jaime on that boat doesn't make sense though.

Just started watching this season. So glad they cut most of the Feast for Crows and Dance with Dragons. Those books were terrible and added almost nothing to the core story. Good riddance. Have a clean slate and tell a proper story, something GRRM has failed to do.
I'm four episodes in and no mention of Griff, thank god, or Frog, thank god.

Season 6 casting info. Some very interesting casting calls, looks like more Northern characters are coming into play finally.

Guessing Arthur Dayne, the Greatjohn, and Manderly will be showing up. Likely means we're getting a Rickon update, which means more Ser Davos.

The Legendary Fighter seems like it would be Arthur Dayne, which means we'll likely be seeing the battle at the Tower of Joy. That would be great.
The other option is that the Legendary Fighter could be Azor Ahai.
