The premise is that Huberdeau's NMC kicks in on July 1st so this might be the only time to ever trade him. They suggest the trade would be for prospects, swapping 1st rounders (16th for the 12th pick), plus a 3rd rounder.... because obviously a 3rd rounder would be needed to get a deal done.

Pretty crazy idea. Arizona takes on cap, not money, and certainly not $84M worth. And they certainly wouldn't be giving up value to take on that much money.
They just aren't the target to trade Hubby to.

How many teams are going to line up to get this guy when he said he was going to sign with the Habs? Then there's all his antics on the ice, throwing hissy fits, and he can come across as a real DB in interviews.
I don't think he's the only cancer in the WPG locker room, but I don't think you can win with this guy in your group, just my opinion.

Scheifele comes off as a complaing bitch also. Wheeler has always been about Wheeler. This is what its becoming. NBA is a perfect example.

That's a great way to get most high profile players to never sign with Calgary again. Have a down season? You're getting shipped off to a collapsing team that doesn't even have an arena for you to play in.

Yup, there's a reason they stripped Wheeler of the captaincy. Scheif is a DB. You could just see the frustration in Bowness' face when they were eliminated.

If someone is willing to give you half decent assets for Huberdeau you take that and run.

How high was his profile? I think that has already happened when Gaudreau and Tkachuk left.

Huberdeau? I am sure a 115 point winger was considered high profile.

I couldn't see trading Huberdeau after one season having much of an effect on being able to sign future players. If anything, a future player would look at it and think, hey, if it's not working, at least they aren't afraid to move players. Neal was traded after one season and I doubt it had any effect.
Honestly, no team is going to take on his contract anyway, so it's probably a worthless discussion. But if there is a chance to trade him and you don't, you better be really sure he is going to rebound. It's an $84 million bet I wouldn't make personally.
