You people who want Monahan to be traded are nuts. If he is, I hope he comes back and haunts us.

Maybe I’m in the minority here but I can’t believe how quickly fans are treating Monahan like hot garbage. Still love the player and hope he can rebound in Calgary.

Jujhar is a good fit to go home to Vancouver. They need some toughness on their 4th line.

He has played 96% of the games the Flames have since the day he was drafted.
This just shows how out of touch with reality you and several others are.

And how many of those games was he as useful as a one legged man in an ass kicking competition because he was hurt and should not have been playing?

...and yet...he has still put up lower end Top-C numbers and leads the flames all time in game winners...
I wasn't happy with Monahans season either...but some of the hyperbole on this board makes it sound like he is Derek Ryan...

The last two seasons he hasn’t. Mainly due to injury.

Some people believe Monahan’s last two seasons were an anomaly. Some think they’re the new normal. So opinions are divided.
We do know Treliving shopped him last off-season and didn’t get any takers. Maybe he was asking for the moon in return. But there doesn’t seem to have been the kind of bidding war you typically see when a #1 C becomes available. Which suggests to me that Monahan isn’t as highly regarded by NHL GMs as he is by his fans here.

Monahan has been unlucky for sure, however he has had ~3 major surgeries in different off-seasons.
He really needs a bounce back season where he is 100% healthy
(i.e. hip surgery, wrist surgery etc.)

I would much rather see Mony play 50 games hard and sit out games where he is injured, than 80 games of soft scared to re-injure perimeter play. His play through the pain mentality has done nobody any favors on this team and has driven his stock and next contract leverage into the toilet

Do we dump every player that get's hurt? I guess we should be dumping Tyler Parsons too? Martin Pospisil as well?
I love that people complain that a guy gets hurt but still plays, trying to help the team, but what happens if he takes your advice and sits? When does the complaining begin that he isn't playing through some of these "minor" injuries and isn't a team guy? I like heart and soul players, and Monahan is one of those.

Maybe. Maybe not.
When does taking a lineup spot and not contributing become a liability?
All for grinding it out, until thats all hes doing. Grinding.

Well, if Monahan drops out, you have who step in? Simon? Rinaldo? Robinson?

A team guy would realize he is better off sitting and healing up instead of going out there and doing nothing. Monahan is made of glass, doesn't skate well, and his wrists have taken a beating. If you can move him for fair value that is a blessing, if there is nothing but lowball offers you keep him and hope he has a bounceback season and then you move him.

Phillips, Ruzicka, Gawdin? It doesn't have to be one of the worst players in the organization.
