What are you talking about? 0.08 is heavily impaired.

The alcohol impaired what was an otherwise aggressive, careless, impatient driver, so it certainly was a factor.

Sounds like he was telling the truth about 5-6 beer so probably a half a beer too much for the impaired charge.

Justin Timberlake was likely far more drunk, he ran a red light, swerved into another lane and took a block to stop for the cops, he then refused to take a breathalyzer claiming he only had one drink. Today he plead guilty to non-criminal misdemeanor, $500 fine and 3 months suspension.

It continues to amaze me what money can do.

Yeah - this is why I made my last post because I am very familiar with this type of agreements in DUI cases. It costs about $10,000-$15,000 in lawyer's fees to reach "reasonable settlements".

But I am lacking from a legal perspective, if his lawyer can minimize the BAC, would the charges still be the same? I have no idea about NJ laws but I wonder what the next step down is in terms of settlement etc because I am sure the lawyer for this guy will take him down that path. I think going to actual trial might be worse.

Agree but also in whatever situation this guy gets out of prison in some future, he should- no matter what legal outcome- absolutely never be allowed to drive again. Like, ever. This should be the end of this guy driving forever IMO. Prison or whatever is one thing, but this guy should never be allowed to drive again.

Naw...its just a sheer indictment of this man's complete lack of character.

I'm furious. I can understand being a jack ass under the influence, alcoholism is a terrible thing, but this? Sorry, he wasn't 'off his ass hammered' he's just a piece of ####.

This literally makes me angrier because we really can't blame alcohol anymore.
Hearing the previous instance where he got off because the police officer did not show up to DUI. The larger issue is the reckless driving that he likely has done since 2005 or earlier up to now.

Glad to hear the judge directly say along the lines of risk to others if he is released. Hope he is in for full 20 years but should be much longer.

Yes. This is me.

Yeah, he was 'legally drunk.'

But really? He's just a rage-o-holic.

He killed 2 people...for why? He's not 'hammered' hes drunk, sure, but thats not the key issue for me anymore. That blood-alcohol level in terms of an alcoholic is a joke.

He did it because he is mentally unhinged.

And unfortunately thats not something I can wrap my head around.

I know it sounds weird, but I wanted his blood-alcohol level to be 'off the charts' because at least thats something thats understandable.

'A guy with a problem.'

He has a problem. But its RAGE. And thats a lot more complicated than just some guy who had a couple beers too many.

Honestly? And this is pure 'spit-balling' in no way take this comment as informed or anything because it is not, but it kind of seems like he wanted to do it.

And that steams me.

I hadn’t posted on this yet but feel the same as many of those that have already posted. I remember buying a gaudreauby baker t shirt while he was at BU and wearing it to the Penticton camp right after he signed his entry level deal. I had followed his progress all the way leading up and got to witness his entry into the league. He was special from day one. We were very blessed to have such a unique player.

His particular story and path is incredibly unique. He was a unicorn. I am 8 years his senior which feels so weird that his life is over yet he was a kid. He always looked and acted like a kid but could do miraculous things and was down to earth himself wherever he went. It was special and rare and I do believe the lady byng should be renamed. An inspiration to so many. I won’t forget him. It is so very sad.

Realistically we are probably a hairs width away from being able to claim that rage is a mental health issue and something that individuals should be able to use as a defense against criminal offense similar to "affluenza."

I have nothing to back it up but from knowing how I feel after a few drinks, that seems to be the level of impairment where aggressive behaviours are more prevalent. If someone is more smashed, they are probably not taking as many risks and are probably trying to blend in.

Was able to visit the memorial this morning, to deliver my son's letter and a bag of skittles at his request.

Pictures really don't do it justice. I was the only one there, and took some time to read as much as I could, and admire the tributes and arrangements.

The rain did make things wet, but everything was relatively in decent condition.

I'm glad I was able to go for myself and on behalf of my boy. It truly was a sobering and powerful memorial and tribute.
