It was a beautiful ceremony, despite being one of the saddest things ever. I like that Father Tony.
Meredith is a rock. The poise and courage it took to do what she did was unbelievable.
Just so many layers to this tragedy. I worry for Guy especially, but after what I saw, I think he might be able to draw some strength from his incredible daughters-in-law.
RIP to both these guys. I still can't believe it happened.

Tragedies like this always give me pause - It could easily happen to me, to my kids... it is a sobering and terrifying thought. I try to remember to be present, to enjoy life as much as possible, using this as a reminder I think is a good way to honour them and their families - so their deaths aren't in vain.

The eulogies given by the wives were very beautiful. I felt immense, unfathomable sadness watching them. Seeing Noa in the aisle, thinking of my own children... Seeing Guy being carried out, thinking of his parents... It is just so unbelievable and cruel that this has happened the way it did.
It isn't fair. It isn't right. The world isn't but this is an especially wicked example of the cruelty of life.
I'm only half way through Meredith's. She is holding it together so well, better than I am for frig sakes! I literally have to watch this in shifts. I should be through it by tomorrow night.
The penalties for drunk driving are ridiculously inadequate. This guy should be doing life, not looking at a max of 20 years for killing two people.
I think more focus needs to be put on the "history of driving like a nut" factor.
If his family is saying this publicly you know there's a massive issues here. There is a whole lot more blame that should be placed on this guy being an absolute liability on the road with regular conflicts and near misses almost a guarantee. The booze in this case is likely just the compounding factor and although unforgivable, its the day to day actions and normalization of driving like a complete loser that lead to this.
I hope whatever happens to this scumbag, that he lives in a personal hell for the rest of his life that pales in comparison to whatever sentence he's given.

100%
Even just reckless driving should have much harsher penalties in terms of license suspensions and car impounding.
Last week when I was on my way to the Vigil I witnessed somebody pass another driver on the inside shoulder and based on the scenario I was honestly so enraged I could have lost it on them.
With how the driver was weaving in and out of traffic and based on the speed they were driving at if there was a bike or pedestrian on the other side of the car they passed they would have had no chance to react or see them.
What does it take for people to learn that the 2 or 3 minutes you might save on your 20 minute commute is not worth the potential risk of killing someone or a serious accident.

AH - correct me if I'm wrong - but that's actually not that high relative to other cases. He was right around the legal limit of 0.08% - over by 0.007%.This might just be anecdotal but I think a good lawyer might have a real shot to mitigate the impact of that BAC test. Not sure how that would impact the overall charges though. Maybe the lawyers on here can give their educated opinion.
The booze definetly contributed, but the guy is just a POS
Sure, the booze 'might' have contributed but for an alcoholic .087 is 'breakfast.'
Naw...its just a sheer indictment of this man's complete lack of character.
I'm furious. I can understand being a jack ass under the influence, alcoholism is a terrible thing, but this? Sorry, he wasn't 'off his ass hammered' he's just a piece of ####.
This literally makes me angrier because we really can't blame alcohol anymore.
