Interesting that he has removed Lindholm form the list and Hanifin is not there either. Would be kind of surprised if both players are still on the team this coming season.

I wonder what it would take to pry Kakko from the Rangers? Rumors circling about one or both of Kakko/Lafreniere should be traded. Kakko is still young, has a great shot, strong on his skates, and moves fast. I feel like he could explode if put in a better situation and with Conroy stating he wants the new coach to allow guys to be "unleashed" a bit more, this could be a good fit in a buy low situation.

I think we have several pieces that could garner us a decent return:

Lindholm (possible package with CBJ ie: #3OA pick, hypothetical talk with Portzline)
Mangiapane (possible package with TO ie: Nylander, Treliving likes Mangiapane, some earlier comments about Nylander's agen Lewis Gross)
Hanifin or Toffoli or both (possible package with NYR ie: Kakko)

Future possible lineup:
Huberdeau - Backlund - Nylander
Pelletier - Kadri - Kakko
Dube - Zary - Coronato
Coleman - Ruzicka - Duer

Current possible lineup:
Dube - Lindholm - Toffoli
Huberdeau - Backlund - Mangiapane
Pelletier - Kadri - Coronato
Coleman - Ruzicka - Duer

I think a lot of that is the assumption about the always content mandate from Ownership

What am I missing with Kevin Hayes being up there? His list order is nonsense.

If Kakko/Lefreniere are available, it due to cap reasons.

They'll trade them only if required, and not for a more expensive player needing a new contract soon.

And I doubt it's Kakko that would go.

Kakko should break out with his natural talent. I really have no idea what people see in Lafreniere. I watched a bunch of his games and he doesn't possess speed, he's not particularly quick, he's not really moving to create space for himself, his shot is mediocre. What am I missing? Is he worth any more than a 2nd rounder at this point (if that)?

Because the Flyers are desperate to move him.

It isn’t a list of really good players that teams should trade for. It’s a list of players likely to be moved.

That makes sense. I withdraw my comment.

With Babcock hired, let’s make the Jackets good again:

Lindholm, Hanifin, 16th OA
For
3rd OA, Bean, 22nd OA, 34th OA, Texier

Basically have it as Lindholm and 16th for 3rd and 22nd, Hanifin for Bean, Texier, and 34th.

Texier was pretty much a throw in for missing a season, but a guy I think would be a decent 3rd line C/W for Calgary, especially if we move on from Lindholm or Backlund (or both).

You also get a Calgary-born, former Calgary Hitmen player that I think could produce as well as Hanifin in the right situation. Would be the perfect guy like Kylington to get some reps in with Tanev paired with him.

So who should Conny target in a Lindholm trade to CBJ? Can’t imagine they would part with their pick?

Lafreniere is trending to be the next Yakupov.
He should have never went first, LW who didn’t really excel at anything with 2C right behind him i think people bought into the hype too much. Everyone seemed to think he was the next MacKinnon but his skating is very lack lustre, his shot is mediocre and he doesn’t use his size effectively.

Ottawa definitely won that draft at 3 with Stutzle.

Sillinger + 22nd would be my guess if Lindholm says he is out

I'd rather just try stay in win mode, if that's the best we can get.

I think if its the 3rd, it probably looks like Lindolhm+16oa

And it would probably be based on an extension, cant see Lindy signing there, especially now.

I might be out to lunch though

I know it is a strong draft, but Lindholm has to be worth more than moving up 13 draft slots.

Not 3OA. But the 22OA they got from LA is in play. And they have a deep prospect pool. Given the mandate to win now, I expect that beyond the 22OA pick, Conroy would prefer draft+1-3 players over more picks.

I can’t imagine anyone moving a top 5 pick this year, but GM’s do hilariously stupid things all the time. So I’m hoping things get crazy for the fun of it.

It’s not really about moving up slots it’s about the value of a top 3 pick
So it’s way different from moving from 26 to 13 (as an example)

Lindholm and 16 for 3 and 22. Seems fair to me.
