It’s either going to be 8 years before the start of the season, at $14-16M, or 2 years at $20 mil, but not before the trade deadline. If he’s serious about wanting to win, he’ll wait and see what the club does to improve in the next 10 months. No movement, no contract.

There is a scenario where this season plays out again without him under contract, and they go a long way and Florida eats their lunch again, and then he walks. While stressful for us, that would be maximum chaos, and the team would be screwed.

I'd much rather them get bounced in the first round like LA did to Vancouver when the Canucks were supposed to go back to the finals.

He throws a McTantrum and tells them he's out and karma pays Oilers fans a visit for making fun of the Flames for losing Gaudreau for nothing.

This would be glorious!
But I don't think LA can bounce them.

He’ll sign in Edmonton for 8 years this summer while telling them they have to trade him after next season.

The seldom used reverse NMC…the MMC (must move clause). Once mavi’s agent puts that clause in, bowman is sure going to be sorry he skipped that day they taught reading in grade 2!

I’m sure he’d just turn a blind eye anyways

They literally have 4 forwards and 2 D-men under contract for 26-27 right now:
Dry-Saddle - $14m
Hyman - $5.5m
The Tenderness - $5.25
Janmark - $1.45m

Nurse - 9.25
Emberson - $1.3m

That's it. That is the roster in 14 months. With no picks this year, and a bare cupboard. No assets to trade for talent. No studs coming up the ranks. NOTHING!!!!

Why would McDavid want to stay for that? What is there to look forward to?

The Oilers are one Draisaitl trade from entering another long long decade of darkness.

Don't worry, they're addressing this by locking up Trent Frederic long term.

The loss of Holloway and Broberg are going to hurt this franchise for years to come. The horrendous July 1st last year where Skinner and Arvidson were brought in and are up all the cap space.

Edmonton lost those assets for a 2nd and 3rd.

Kane will be traded or bought out. I just don’t see how this roster improves? They are already the oldest team in the league with hardly any prospects and very few picks.

The Kings have a lot to play with next summer and who doesn't think McDavid will get something like 20million a season from them. The cap is going up after stagnating and the guy is going to make bank.

If you're looking for credibility Toronto is the easy guess, but wouldn't look past Los Angeles
He “might” be better than Gretzky at playing hockey but he has the charisma of a potato. He isn’t even close to marketable like Gretzky was. Off the ice, he will never be “a star” like Gretzky was.

Damn, I hope they aren't in Dupont territory in 2027. I wonder what we could trade them for their unprotected 2027 1st.

McDavid has the personality of a potato. I wonder if that hinders his potential in heading to a market like Los Angeles or New York? I can't see him doing podcasts, going on talk shows, kissing babies, and making public appearances. As someone who lives in Edmonton I can't recall a single noteworthy appearance he's made.

For all of Draisaitl's faults he does have a personality, and is generally well regarded in the community. Even most Oilers honks love watching McDavid as a player, but agree he's not an assuming personality. McDavid might be on commercials, but his lack of personality shows. Compare him to Sid or Mackinnon and the contrast is obvious. I don't know if McDavid is capable of cracking a smile. So while going to a hockey mad market like Toronto makes sense, I can't see him choosing a market to appear at conventions, pose for Playgirl (like Wayne) or appear in Mighty Ducks 4: Goldberg's in Charge.

Mcdavids latest press conference saying his future depends if they are going to win. In other words, they need to do everything he says or he’ll leave. He’s already a reffing expert, now he’ll be McGM. I don’t actually blame him, but this will be entertaining.

The entire league needs to adopt Reinhart's approach when asked about McDavid.

I dunno, he's gonna need to be in Toronto to get that Pizza Nova endorsement.
