I think it was a Cracked article I've stolen this from, but some people are comforted by conspiracy theories.
If this stuff is all part of a master plan by a shady group of somebodies then life is not just a flood of chaotic events and we're just trying to keep our heads above water.

I think this proves just how silly your argument is.
See your analogy is wrong. Instead try to think of it as the earth was proven to revolve around the sun and it was proven without a doubt. You are the tool who still thinks the earth is the center of the universe, the world is flat and creationism is a better explanation than evolution.
