Here are the gems I pulled out of your article:
Fake shots: love this. Excellent reference to the backhand crosby goal in Montreal ... who doesn't remember that goal?
Bat ins: very welcome addition, should make position in front of the net even more important
On your knees: Pretty cool, I hope it's one of those things that only a few players can do well.
Loose puck one timers: Awesome stuff. Big thumbs up from over here. I have a big problem with shooting at a loose puck and only throwing a check instead. I know there's a modifier, but it still happens.
Fatiguing goalies: I like how you can wear down a goalie during the game. A good excuse to just get pucks on net sometimes.
Player face expressions: I'm so proud I noticed that from the trailer. Nice touch for close up replays. A welcome addition but probably not all that used.
More sliders: This could be absolutely massive. I'm not getting my hopes up until I hear impressions. EA's sliders tend to have a funny way of not doing anything. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here, but I'd really like to see it work first.

I used to be of that mindset, but I recently played it again, and it's almost un-playable......it's fun for like a period and a half, but it's still pretty brutal......not all vintage stuff is better.

The wii virtual console has wrecked so many games for me it isn't even funny. This is one of them. Ice hockey on the other hand actually held up a little better I thought.

Nice writeup Jobo!
I hope the ability to bat pucks out of the air and score from your knees is rare. If that stuff happens too much, or it happens by players who should not be capable of that then the game becomes arcade like.

I am convinced NHL09 is rigged. I just played a guy not even ranked, out shot him 42-5 and he wins 2-1 on two soft goals.

One thing that better be fixed is getting in front of the net and pressing the right stick to put in the garbage goal but instead you end up cross checking the D-man and getting a penalty. That really pissed me off with 09.

That was already fixed in 09. You press L2 to activate Vision Control and you will not check accidentally.

Interesting about being hurt on hits.
I hope injuries are up this year, especially for online BAP style.
Another addition I think would be interesting is if you could knock over your teammates as well. By accident of course. It would be neat if player physics could be in place for everyone on the ice.

I really hope they don't have fans in the Dome waving those sad white towels. Vancouver can keep that one.

I really hope they actually make scoring goals hard... that way people won't be complaining about glitch/cheese goals every time I win a fair game, then people will STOP messaging afterwards saying I'm a cheeser and disgrace to NHL 09 lol.

To be honest, I think there will ALWAYS be glitch goals in any NHL game, unless the developers play/test the game 24/7 in find ways to score glitch goals, then fixing them. Look at NHL 09, nearly every top player has memorized every fricking glitch goal in the game.

From Jobo's write up, "Goalies will go after picking up loose pucks in front of them rather then hesitating to pick it up."
FINALLY!! I always yell at my tv because of this. The puck just sits in front of him for like 4 seconds and he just sits there looking at it, then there guy breaks free, and goal. Thank Allah they fixed this.
I am hoping for revised goalie controls as well (playing as the goalie). I like playing the goalie, but it doesn't feel as fluid as it should be, or is with a computer goalie. The computer goalies seem to move a lot more fluidly. Also, some type of save to stop the cross crease goals. I can stop everything but a good set-up from a cross crease. I get them sometimes with the desperation save or poke check, but a specific save for them would be nice.
I am also willing to bet there will be some type of glitch goals in NHL 10 as well. In every game they have made there are glitch goals. NHL 07 there were, 08 there were, 09 there are. There will be in 10 too.

There has been glitch goals since NHL started. I think it was '93 where the old slapshot through the 5 hole was the big glitch goal. I used to make a habit of scoring from the red line. Good times.
