A competent leader like Wab Kinu, or a non moron, could have scored an NDP official opposition tonight with ease. Maybe even threaten to form a government. He's supposed to represent workers and the middle class in Canada. He's abandoned us.

Yeah, I mean he's only the second worst thing to happen to the Federal NDP.
The first was Thomas Mulcair.
This was going to be a two-horse race very early on.

There was never a scenario where this could happen once Trump became the paramount ballot issue. Having the economy and trade being the whole election is just not good for the NDP, majority of Canadians will not trust them to handle that.

Voted NDP in my riding since it's been NDP vs Cons forever, the Libs don't stand a chance here. But I hope the Libs win federally. Going to be close, though.

Pharmacare, dental care, and national daycare is abandoning the working class? Bold take.

My riding is provincially green, but have never really had a decent green federal candidate so they never do well. This year is different and the green candidate is great. I’m worried Liberals and Green tie for 2 and we get a Conservative seat.

Bashing Singh is definitely harsh. You could argue he could or even should have done a better job of giving them a real chance in this election, but the macro environment changing to the level it did in this election is basically unheard of not just for Canada, but anywhere. He used the leverage he had in the house pretty well, he wasn't perfect but I don't think viewing him as a total failure is fair at all.

Just looking forward (hopefully) to the maple MAGAs who were claiming all the polling has been fabricated "like Trump's numbers pre-election" getting banished back to the shadow this evening.
Good old comments like "my houshold all voted conservative!" as if that's indicative of anything at all in the bigger picture.
If somehow they're right and peepee gets in, I'm fine as long as it's a minority. And I think that's what we're looking at, worst case scenario.

Didn’t you hear, they’re erasing all the pencil marks and changing them to Liberal votes?

Huge gains in popular vote for libs and cons. A lot of nailbiters still going on but conservatives potentially picking up a couple seats in the Maritimes - maybe the way its tracking could be enough to push the liberals down to a minority if it keeps going this way and they can grab an extra 20-25 seats over where 338 had them landing?
But definitely seems like the pollsters were not too far off, I think Nanos nailed the popular vote in the maritimes for the liberals almost exactly in his final one, but underestimated the conservatives a bit.

My hot take….i want a majority, either Libs or Cons. Minority governments need to spend in order to bribe whatever party is holding the balance of power. This is part of what happened to both the liberal and last conservative minority governments, which led to worse fiscal management than either would have done with a majority. I’m fine with taking the chance on a majority government getting to do more of what they want, because it won’t be beholden to expensive bribery deals.

Yeah I think especially in the face of trump a minority would be tough - and the worst part about a minority in this election with the way its going and the NDP completely collapsing is that the balance would likely be held by the bloc. Probably another election in 6 months

A lot of this, but also given the current situation the last thing we need is the uncertainty a minority brings. Whoever wins they need to be able to act without consideration of being brought down.
