He's probably up there but it's tough to argue against Scott Arniel and John Hynes right now.
Totally agree, Carbery in Wsh probably up there as well as who saw that team being top 5 either?
I hope Huska gets a nod if we keep this up, but ultimately I’m good if someone else wins as it always seems like the Jack Adams is the kiss of death for many coaches (even though it’s probably all coincidence)
Really liked Rooney’s game tonight. Not sure how it came accross on TV, but at the game I thought he really stood out on that 4th line (which was fantastic as a unit as well).
good post, he unfairly takes too much heat

Massive shoutout to the 4th line. They were dominant tonight.
When Conroy went out and signed Lomberg for that contract, it reminded me of the Engelland contract where we were made fun of that is was per year and not the entire length.
Conroy from his trades, the draft, to that signing, I fully agree a turn around “on the fly” is capable, with maintaining a workplace where (and it’s funny this actually is true now and not just a sign on the wall) it’s always earned never given.
Just watched the highlights and one thing that didn’t show too well on camera as it did in person (at least on the angle I saw) was Huberdeau’s brilliant touch pass to Zary on the game winning goal. It was so slick.

He's done an excellent job of hiring players who will set the benchmark for effort and consistency. If a young player wants to make the Flames' roster, he has to work hard enough to outperform players like Rooney and Lomberg. Pure skill will get you by for a while, but it takes hard work to stay ahead of those players during the times when your scoring runs dry.

Are the Flames not popular? As far as I know it's not a small city and it's in Canada but their board is more dead than most boards on HF.

I think its like a million and a half people, so, no NYC, but not exactly a small town...

So why is their board so dead?

The Wolf is Loose

That goalie of theirs is pretty good. Gonna take a lot of hard work and focusing on finish to beat him
Quote:
Also my vote for the tandem with the coolest names: Wolf and Vladar.

Darth Vladar
Quote:
Wolf’s third jersey setup is amazing.

Are we really going to the little goalie thing with Wolf? TNT spent at least 30 minutes talking about how small Sarros is last night.

wow, this Calgary goalie is tiny.

The Rangers know they're allowed to take shots?

So they’re getting goalied tonight?
Quote:
They need to get pucks below the net, forecheck, and cycle ... Calgary sits 4 guys in front of the net .. you have to wear on them

I really enjoy watching Wolf play and think he has sick setup with the Flames’ third jersey. Could the team get some o-zone time so we can see Wolf more?

we're getting shutout by this noname scrub, arent we

Why do they Boo Fox?

He was drafted by Calgary, refused to sign, and basically forced his way to the Rangers

In fairness to Fox I don’t want to move to Calgary either

20 shots to 4 is insane

Hope lavi and Igor chew the rest of the team's heads off during intermission. Terrible play. Can't stay out of our own end and letting Shesty be under constant fire. And the penalties. I hope Mika is okay, but I'm not betting he'll come back in this game :/
Quote:
i feel like if anybody under the age of 25 put up a period in which the shot attempts with them on the ice were 16-1 in favor of the other team, that under-25 year old wouldn't see the ice the rest of the game
but in the case of NYR, they not only keep playing said players, but have them play the most TOI of everybody on the team
the leashes and nepotism this team gives to Lindgren and Trouba is crazy, especially considering Jones basically has to have a Heiskanen-level game to even sniff 2nd pair minutes
Quote:
NYR has an atrocious period and what does Laviolette do? he starts Lindgren/Trouba again, and immediately out of the gate Coronato has an A+ chance off the rush
jesus christ already

Well, the book is definitely out on how to play the Rangers. This team cannot deal with pressure checking. 35-10 shot differential. I don’t know if it’s funny or sad.

It’s amazing how bad we are against aggressive teams.

Hopefully Laviolette will inform his players that the game has started.
Quote:
Trouba and Lindgren are incapable of doing anything positive as a pair. Even simple passes are in skates, pucks thrown to nobody. There’s like a 80% chance of the puck enters the zone on one of their shifts that they’re going to get pinned.
Quote:
This might be the worst game I’ve ever seen them play, I’m not even being hyperbolic.
European Handball…?
Quote:
Completely absurd. They are calling the softest ####ing game but then an actual video review and they decide nah we don’t call it tight like that.
Quote:
It touched his hand and went in another direction then another player touched it. That’s a hand pass
Quote:
That exact play is called a hand pass 9 times out of 10 in real time. They usually only let the deflection off the glove go when a player isn’t looking or has both hands in his stick and it just hits him. This guy took his hand off his stick and reached for the puck with clear intent. That’s a hand pass and the fact it wasn’t overturned is a joke.
Also they never should’ve been on the PP to begin with. Panarin didn’t slash the player on the play he literally just had his stick sitting there he didn’t even move it.
Quote:
So he directs the puck with his hand, the Flames player delays touching it but it’s not a hand pass.
Just making it up as they go along

That has to be the worst review call I've ever seen

The Flames could end this game with over 50 shots. That’s an issue. idk how people are jumping on Igor for a goal scored of off Kakko’s stick when he’s at .935 in a game where he let up 3 goals.

just #### defense by Kakko and terrible by Igor.

Yep, we're supposed to ignore his CONSISTENT softies. CONSISTENT. Only thing he's f***ing consistent at.

How many f***ing pucks do you people want Igor to stop? All of them apparently. All 50 f***ing shots.

Pucks just explode off of mikas stick. Every single time
Quote:
Igor has a soft goal fetish. He is so unreliable. You know he will give up a back breaking softy. Doesn't matter how good the rest of the game is. You're not winning a cup with a goalie like him. He basically did THAT against the Panthers all series. All f***ing series. And the simpletons ate it up.
Mutually Frustrating 6 on 5

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a more ineffective 6x5. Or the opposing team missing so many empty nets.

Good thing for those couple pity shots from the wild at the end there - Skinny managed to make it back above .800.

It's time to start ditching the notion that the effort and compete level isn't there/consistent. We need to accept that fact that 75% of our roster is old, washed, as well as tired from the long run, and just doesn't have the pace anymore.
Quote:
Hands down the worst lateral movement of any goalie in the league, combined with horrible balance and agility. The guy trips over his own feet regularly and ends up swimming in his crease.

I don’t give a #### about Calgary
Quote:
Listen, it's unreasonable to expect your goaltender to win you one game out of every 20 when you get a bunch of good bounces and find your legs.
Kindly ignore that every other goaltender in the league does this routinely.

That typo always makes me laugh.
It reminds of one time - years ago - Ben Affleck was on a talk show and he was asked if his family was religious growing up and he said he was always more interested in sports. Whenever the priest would say that Jesus was crucified at Calvary, he wondered why they went all the way to where the Flames play to do it.

This is a most excellent example of the nonsensical medias annual kool-aid filled off-season offering, and the lemmings who lap it up that support that franchise.
The vast majority of the hockey world objectively looked at their moves over the summer and noted repeatedly that the club had the exact issues as this poster describes. Not in Conners world though....no criticism of the hallowed grease spots allowed. Stanely Cup favorites and all that you know.
It would be frightening if it wasn't so damn hilarious AND predictable.
