And that's with a couple of weaker seasons on a rebuilding Jackets squad dropping him below a point per game as well. That's an absurd amount of points for half a career...

I'll stop by to give Johnny Hockey a farewell. I knew how good this guy was, but I was still stunned when he made the team w/o a stint in the AHL. I just thought there was no way a guy that size could survive - no matter how skilled. Truth is that when I was a youngster, I was extremely athletic. I was near best at all sports up through high school. Then I stopped growing while everyone else continued. I was 5-8 150lbs at 18 and I was still good at everything, but the thought of going on the ice with NHLers scared the crap out of me. No way!

Gaudreau must have been several levels better than me. I mean... I can imagine being several levels better, but still can't imagine WANTING to be on the ice with NHLers.

The guy became 115pt scorer in the NHL - wow!

anyway - I posted this in 2016 and got a lot of fun replies https://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthread.php?t=151967

Sharks blogger afraid of Johnny Hockey

http://www.fearthefin.com/2016/1/12/...source=twitter

Thought you guys might get a kick out of this: Sharks blog, FeartheFin break down fancy stats after each game and with this one they concluded that the Sharks won, but "Gaudreau will be skating through my nightmares".

It ends with:

When Gaudreau enters the zone my eyes immediately start to flick around the ice to see what defenders are out there. I don't know why I do this, because quite frankly there could be two Vlasics and three Pavelskis on the ice and I'd be concerned. Gaudreau seems to win every board battle he enters into and his vision on the ice makes him as much a threat to thread the needle for an assist as he is to snipe a corner.

In conclusion, I would very much like to never watch the Sharks play against Gaudreau ever again. Please go back to the hockey planet you come from and leave us all alone.
***

This guy is so exciting to watch - more so because i know what it's like being 19-20, 5-8 150lbs - that was me (35years and 40lbs ago) and I couldn't imagine in my wildest dreams playing on the same sheet of ice with real NHLers like Kronwall or Shea Weber that would rather pulverize you than be embarrassed.

You guys are gonna be so conflicted when Gaudreau scores the goal that wins the USA the gold medal :-)

Bump.

Because I rather see this thread title (on page 1) than the main thread with the devastating title...

Just since there's inevitably a lot of Johnny talk this week with the Flames and Jackets playing each other twice.

So nice that she's going to extend her trip and stay in Calgary longer than just flying in and out for the game. Mentioning that she wants the organization to meet her children and for the fans to see them is really special. Something else that continues to hit for me was how close Sean and John really were. As Flames fans we knew they were close buddies and good friends but we really had no idea that these two have what was a very close bond.

Tuesday is going to be rough but cathartic.
