Caps and flames fan here (don’t ask). Caps are over the salary cap, but that doesn’t count backstrom on LTIR. Even more so, I think this shows Oshie is also done. Just my 2 cents.

No problem with DeBrusk but fully expect Conroy to take on some bad contracts to get more picks. Conroy is in full rip down and rebuild mode. Has been for awhile, has not made a single rebuild trade. Loving the work he is doing.

but if you end up with Debrusk and a 2nd for Mangi its a win no matter what stage your team is in. You likely trade Debrusk at some point too. Flames need more size anyway.

You're definitely right on that front. 1 Year of Mangiapane for a 2nd + 4 years of DeBrusk is an emphatic "W" for Conroy.
You and I are generally pretty night/day on a lot of takes, but there's zero debate on this.
That's just good work by Conroy.
