Where is this documented proof that they didn't have to pay him?

You argued that they had to pay him no matter what, so they don't deserve any credit for doing so. You have consistently ignored the fact that there was a course of action open to them that would have allowed them to petition the league to toll or terminate Kylington's contract, and they never started on that course. That is what they deserve credit for.

It's in the Standard Player Contract. If a player fails to show up to perform his duties, he can be held in breach of contract and the contract can be tolled or cancelled.

Not while he's receiving treatment from the players assistance program.

Yes in the facts of what transpired they absolutely had to pay him. Your imaginary scenarios of Kylington not showing up to camp after Flames not agreeing didn't happen so not worth thinking about.
Flames agreed and did not have a choice to not pay him. They deserve credit from you for allowing him to get better at home and treating him like a human.
And your tolling comment is wrong. The Flames can't petition the league to toll his contract. They need to agree with Kylington mutually and then the league decides if they'll allow it.

This is true for any player and any injury so not relevant to this situation where both teams agreed to him not showing up.
I know you love to argue but again let's not talk about imaginary scenarios.
Facts are facts and he had to be paid for what actually transpired.

Here is the exact logical sum of your argument:
‘They deserve no credit for what they did, because they did not do what they did not do.’
That's bollocks.

They can still petition the league to terminate the contract outright, and that does not require mutual agreement – only unconditional waivers (which Kylington, in the circumstances, would most probably have cleared).

Everything except what actually happened is an imaginary scenario, by definition – everywhere and always.
But they made a clear and expensive CHOICE to do what they did, and it is for that that they deserve credit.

They can petition the league to terminate Huberdeaus contract if he ends up killing someone in Calgary as well or commits a serious crime. That's another made up scenario that didn't happen.
Again, eat your heart out and praise the Flames for allowing him to get better through the players assistance program while being at home.
No praise for paying him though.

No they can't.

I think you're unhinged because I said you didn't have reputable sources? You need to calm down as it's only my opinion.
Aren't you a police officer? Maybe try to be as good of a person online as you are in real life.

The stated reason at the beginning of that season was that he was on leave for a "family situation" (or something like that.)
So, my two cents, there was nothing that prevented the Flames from requiring him to attend camp and, if not attending, take action with the league regarding his contract. Instead, they chose to accept the reason for his absence and support him throughout, regardless of whether or when Kylington chose to avail himself of the Players' Assistance Program.
