Lindholm is just as bad as Huberdeau. Probably worse.
They are both heavily relying on good line mates.

Huberdeau needs them to put the puck in the net and he has few here. This exposes him as a one dimensional player

Lindholm basically needs some one to carry him. He’ll be fine as 3rd wheel on a line . Logically Huberdeau should be enough but it’s not. He is basically a Backlund right nowif he has to carry his line. Worth about 5M but someone is going to over pay

Except he expects to get paid near $9 million. The little things are nice and all but a statline of 0's straight across on a night where nine goals were scored is telling that this guy is going to be in for a rude awakening on July 1st. That's four straight games without a point and three shots on net total in those four games despite getting nearly 20 minutes a night and powerplay minutes. Not good enough.

I know this type of hit goes unpenalized regularly in the NHL, but I wish the Flames had someone who would make opposing players think twice. If the refs aren't going to call dangerous hits like that I'm all for an enforcer busting heads.

This is beginning to feel a lot like last year.

They're just finding ways to lose.

On another note, it's almost unbelievable that Huberdeau had been played with basically every currently available Flames forward and still hasn't really clicked with any of them. How does that happen?

Because it has nothing to do with who he is or should be playing with. He played with tons of different players in Florida during his years there with more or less the same results. It's 100% Huberdeau at this point and it looks like he is in a in a mental hole so deep that maybe there is no way back, not in Calgary at least. Maybe a fresh start somewhere else could jump start him but even that is a big questiomark.

Obviously, and I would take him back right now, even at his current salary. Flames will need a weapon like that with a young lineup incoming.

Good result. Cheering for Zary.

Lose again tonight against Vegas please. Maybe a 3-2 game with Zary getting a point and Wolf making 37 saves.

I agree at this point it’s on Huberdeau. I think the staff should stop babying him and just stick him on the 4th line to minimize his ice time while he tries to sort himself out. The guy is hurting the team when he’s out there, so having him on the ice less would be a good thing.

It’s an awful contract, but it’s being made worse by feeding Huberdeau minutes he doesn’t deserve. The team just needs to admit he’s probably a lost cause and park him somewhere where he’ll hurt the team the least.

I am of the opposite camp with Warrener. I'd just ride Huberdeau hard and see if that does anything. The Flaemsa re going to be a bottom 5 team after the UFAs are traded and really have nothing to lose. Might as well just ride him into the dirt.

This whole situation stings less if you just think of this as a Wranglers team putting their best forward to get NHL experience and take their games to the next level.

Like an RPG character that is far too novice but ventures deeper than their skill level can handle to fight extremely difficult bosses, but it's good for the exposure

There are a lot of theories about what the formula is for a successful team. If you read Doug MacLean's recent book "Draft Day", I think his theory is that the teams that win Cups have 10 or 11 homegrown players.

If the Flames could continue their strong youth movement, they would definitely meet this criteria.

There's really no point in buying him out as that won't make the Flames better having to find a replacement for his roster spot while dealing with the massive dead cap hit. The Flames just have to hope that this is a Jeff Skinner type of situation where his game goes away for a couple of seasons and then comes back. Also since he's going to be around for a while there will be time to try and find him a center or winger that he has chemistry with. As painful as this situation is, there's really no quick fix or way out and it's just a matter of taking it year by year. As bad as things look I have to think that he's going to have some better years in the future.

Flames are already a bottom 6 team. When we were missing Andersson, we were a bottom 3 team.

I won't be shocked to see the Flames return to their bottom-3 form without Tanev.

Maybe Edwards will try and convince other league owners that they need a lock out once this CBA is up so they can get some compliance buyouts going.

But probably we'll see some strange UFA signings to see if anyone can gel with the guy.

Yeah, but the fight for a bottom 3 spot will be pretty fierce though.
