I guess I should elaborate, I'm counting the kids that come up as I give them candy. Mark it down on my sheet after.

My neighbour also kept bringing me homemade limoncello, made the counting brain a little fuzzy later in the night...

1386 mini chocolate bars given out (after deducting the number eaten by the people who were handing them out), 3 per child, 1386/3=462.

They came in large bunches, so a clicker would have been pretty much impossible, was handing candy out as quickly as I could grab it from the bowl.

I've never had more than 8 kids show up at a time. This year, my biggest pack was 4. So it's a quick and easy head count (usually while my wife is prepping glowsticks).

After the pack leaves, I pop upstairs and update the running tally on the grocery chalkboard.

The highest I've ever had was mid-70's, and I usually have somewhere in the mid-30's, so it's not that rough to keep track of.

If I started getting 100+, I'd likely have to re-think how I counted. I'm also not looking for an exact count, but more to help me know roughly how much candy/glowsticks I should be looking to make sure I have for next year.

I had about a dozen at once, multiple times I had 6 to 10. They kind of came between 6 and 7ish and then fizzled out. Most years, they start at 5ish in my neighborhood.

I do the old 1111 with a slash through for counting. Keep a pen and paper at the door.

It's easy to count them after they've all fallen through the trap door and into the pit.

I stayed home to man the fort and had a whopping 11 kid in three group. My wife went to our daughters to help out and had just over 500.

Bumping this so anyone like me who still needs to get candy can remember how much they got last year. Good thing I looked, I won't over-prep again this year.
