I don’t think trade deadline returns will do much for a rebuild. I’ll just be happy if they don’t re-sign a single UFA

He has a system?

So many people wanted a rebuild, but for some reason no one is happy in the PGTs.
This is what a rebuild looks like. You lose games with a bunch of mediocre players.

I don't think NY or Pittsburgh are very good, the Jets are average and Washington sucks.
But I hear your point, last years playoff teams aren't necessarily the current best 16 teams.

100% agree on Huska. Difference being with this group that they should’ve started the season like a house on fire, heck they successfully ran their mean dinosaur of a coach out of town and are now free to spread their wings and show us all how they were right and mean coach was wrong. Wow that’s working out great so far. I feel sorry for Huska that this is his first head coaching opportunity. Seems like he’s doomed from the start, it’s a shame really, since I think he could be a really good coach

You get what you can, and then you tell your scouts to do their job and get out of their way.
They'll still get good value for these guys.

Even Huska told me we will be waiting a long time if we're waiting for Kadri and Huberdeau to take over and win games.

No you don’t loose games like this with 22M plus on the first line. Losing games during a rebuild like how the current Hawks, early Lightning or Avs teams were I’m fine with.

That’s because most people wanted a rebuild before Weegar, Huberdeau, and Kadri were signed. I also think the Flames are going to get screwed again and send a high pick to Montreal in that Monahan trade. If there was zero chance of that I’d feel better

Sutter was the only lifeline of integrity remaining on the team.

Lol This Sutter vs Huberdeau/Kadri narrative you keep pushing is hilarious.
Sutter is a great coach on ice, and it looks like his systems were the only thing keeping the team competitive, but that's not why he was fired.
He was fired because he toxic around the organization and not just Kadri and Huberdeau.
He was fired because Sutter was a jerk to everyone including rookies playing their first NHL games.
He was fired because players who were long term Flames like Backlund, Lindholm, Hanifin, and many others also seemed to want out of Calgary if Sutter was still coach.
And he was fired because even the new GM said he was miserable to be around.
And in the end he's a big part to blame for where this organization is because Tkachuk (for sure) and Gaudreau (at least partially) both left at least in part because Sutter was coach.
Even if the team is worse on ice now it was still the right move to fire Sutter.
- If all your top players want out then there is no use in having Sutter as coach because you won't be good enough to win
- And if the team isn't good enough to win then might as well not have Sutter as coach because he's going to prevent you from bottoming out
- And he refuses to play young players, so not good for a team going through a transition anyways
But sure let's make Sutter the hero when he's just as much of a reason for this organizations failures as Huberdeau and Kadri. Maybe even more so when you factor in he's a big reason those guys are even here since he was a big reason Tkachuk wanted out

No...you lose games with a bunch of low-priced mediocre young players. That is a LOT different. And you have picks as a result of selling off your high-priced mediocre old players.

Yeah you have to reach the cap floor...you are talking about those teams AFTER they had high drafts not the seasons that got them those picks
