I actually agree. Rather than suffering through 4 years of Brent Sutter with a mediocre team, the rebuild has already started. And once the front office realizes there is nothing they can do to stop it, they might as well embrace it

I've never been a Huska apologist but the vitriol beind directed his way is pretty unfair. Even if he IS a downgrade on Sutter, coaches usually do need 15 games to establish their systems.

best case scenario is this is our 2017-18 Avalanche season. Except we also use the down year to bare down and sell on Lindholm, Hanifin, Tanev, etc

To be fair, it’s a new season. The Red Wings look like they might make a strong push for the playoffs this year. Same as the Penguins. Jets will also be in the mix but there’s no guarantee they’ll make it. The Rangers are obviously a lock. The other teams we’re definitely beatable and we only beat one of them

We have the players to sell that could expedite the all mighty hell out of a rebuild. We've got the ammo over the next two seasons to really replenish the prospect pool, and look to have the ability to maximize our own draft pick value while doing so.

It has to start now, otherwise the pain is only going to get prolonged.

We have players to sell...but we'll get SFA for them the way they've been playing. Conny has zero leverage.

If there's something out there that tracks it, I would guess the Flames are 32nd over the last 1.1 seasons.
