Colorado have signed UFA forward Saku Maenalanen to a professional try out.
Maenalanen played for Winnipeg last season.

If I recall, the last couple of years the Flames didn't invite any PTOs until basically the last minute. Looks like it's a practice Conroy intends to carry over.

Unless you really have your eye on someone, there's no real reason to sign early. And even if you do, you can lose them (eg Brendan Morrison)

^White was very vanilla, but an adequate bottom 6 forward. I can't speak to the organizational depth of the Pens, but it seems likely he will make that team.

I’ve always liked Colin White, he’s a gritty bottom 6 defensive player with a touch of offence when he’s on and healthy, but he’s struggled with injuries the last few years. Someone on this board told me that he looked lousy with the Panthers.

I really think the Flames should invite a couple PTO vets just for preseason. You need vets in the games and there are back-to-backs. Most of the current vets aren't competing for jobs and aren't going to giving a regular season effort, so I don't think it helps the rookies push themselves. Then you have guys that nursed injuries over the summer.

I think, Conroy said they are talking about couple names for PTO, but still wants to see our young guys first and leave them a little space to showcase their conditions. May be they will sign a couple PTO's before the preseason starts.
